The synthesis engine of YAMAHA TG55/SY55 is called AWM2.
AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) is YAMAHA's term for PCM.
The first generation AWM used 12-bit samples (see YAMAHA TG100).
AWM2 stands for 2nd-generation 16-bit Advanced Wave Memory.
TG55 and the advanced model SY77 are the first synths which adopted AWM2.
They are among the earliest synthesizers equipped with the digital resonant filter,
alongside with KAWAI K4 and Roland S-550.
TG and SY are the first to adopt the digital multimode filter.

Later, the keyboard version SY55 was added.
YAMAHA SY55 (1990)
TG55 has many synth parameters.
For example, a single voice can have up to 16 sets of multi-step envelopes.
But in most cases there's no need to use up all steps of all envelopes.
To make the editing process easier, I made a new editor for TG55, using Emagic SoundDiver.
