SG01 Series
AKAI SG01 Series are GM-based PCM synthesizers.
SG01v has 'vintage' sound sets, and SG01p is a piano module.
They all share the same architecture.

S Series
Guessing from the 32 polyphony and the digital resonant filter,
SG01 Series may be related to AKAI's 2nd generation S Series sampler,
such as S2000.

GM-PCM synths, filter, limited editability
Many lowest GM synths used filter-less PCM playbacker like CASIO GZ-50M. Later ones used synth engines that emulate Roland SoundCanvas, which has a resonant filter. GS SoundCanvas has more complex parameters than SG01, though limited - matrix modulation like polyphonic aftertouch with LFO rate, etc. is editable.
SG01's strictly NRPN-based editaility was rather a rare strategy in the GM world. One related example may be Hammond GM1000. GM1000 has also very simple NRPN-based parameters. It has many organ short-loop samples and 'Leslie' imitated by a digital chorus.
