Performance Editor
for SC-55mkII
Performance Editor
SC-55 can layer up to 16 sounds, but it is not very easy to set up such layers, as you can store only one setting inside SC.
After all, it was not intended to be a synth.
Though not much editable, drum machine version SC-33 and keyboard versions JV-30, XP-10 can layer 2 sounds more easily,
and YAMAHA CS1x can make a 'Performance' with 4 sounds layered.
To make it intuitive to layer sounds, I made a 'Performance Editor' for SC-55mkII with SoundDiver.
It can layer 4 sounds, and store the setting as patches and libraries.

How to use
Put the .ADA file into the Diver folder.
Load sc55init.LIB into the adaptation and start editing from there.
This adaptation was made with SD 3.0.5 on Mac and SC-55mkII,
but may work on other platforms and SoundCanvases.
The window is small so as to fit in my VGA display.
This adaptation uses SC's Part 1-4 to layer the sounds,
and does not currently deal with other Parts.
64 Performances can be stored in SD's Virtual Bank, but it is not related to SC's internal memory.
Voice Common Parameters are at the top of the edit screen.
"Rsv" means Partial Reserve, the number of Partials for each Layer has to be manually set.
The first 4 flip menus are related.
Set the Rsv values so that each Layer will have the same polyphony.
Next, there are Parameters for each Layer.
To set the Variation Number (Bank Select), click the flip menu or the black box on the left of the Tone name.
Tone name with '*' indicates that the Tone uses 2 Partials.
The button above the Tone name is the switch for Layer Mute.
Sometimes SC fails to mute a Layer. Send All-Note-Off Message from SD to help this.
If you find any problems, or if you find new sounds or something of interest, please let me know.
