YAMAHA FX500 is an one of the earliest fully-digital multi-effectors that can use more than 3 effect blocks simultaneously. YAMAHA called it Simul-Effect Processor.

FX500 Overview

5 effect blocks chained - Compressor, Distortion, EQ, Modulation and Reverb.
2 chain algorithms: 1) Comp-Dist-EQ-Mod-Rev, 2) Comp-Dist-EQ-Rev-Mod.
Only basic effects like chorus and flanger. Maximum delay time is 740ms, but in most cases 380ms.
16-bit, 44kHz A/D.
MIDI in for program change and parameter control.
