4-OP Sine Waves FM

FB-01 uses YM2164 OPP FM chip, which uses 4 Sine Wave Operators interacting with each other via Frequency Modulation.

Features

FB-01 is one of the earliest multi-timbral synthesizer. It's 8-part multi-timbral.

FB-01 has the attack velocity parameter - velocity modulates the attack rate. Even DX7 didn't have this parameter, and FB-01 was the only FM synth with attack velocity before SY77/99 came out.

FB-01 is also the only synth before SY77/99 that has Adjust parameter. YAMAHA FM synths automatically adjusts the operators' output with each algorithm to avoid overdrive. With the Adjust parameter, users can gain more volume for operators. This is useful for getting deeper modulations.

OPP and OPM 4-OP FM chips has one noise generator function. Only SFG-01/05 FM unit for MSX computers uses this function, and no other FM synths support it.

FB-01 has no effects - DX21's chorus effect is gone.
