YAMAHA DX7
SoundDiver Editor Updated
DXctrl2 Editor
This is a DX7 editor for
Emagic SoundDiver.
You need Emagic SoundDiver to use this editor.
This makes editing DX easier by making 2 types of simpler synth architectures.
Download DXctrl2 adaptation: dxctrl2.sit (8KB).
This adaptation is made with SD 3.0.5.2 on Mac OS 9.2 and YAMAHA TX7, but may work on other platforms and other DX-compatible 6-operator synths.
How to use:
Put the .ADA file into the Diver folder.
Load initDXctrl2.lib into DXctrl2, and start editing from there.
Put the cursor on the controllers to see the descriptions.
CAUTION1: If you are DX7 user, store the sound using DX7's front panel and don't use SD's Virtual Bank. This is due to SysEx handling limitation of both SD and DX.
CAUTION2: If you are TX7 user, you can use the Virtual Banks - Always be sure to use SD's request function before storing the sound in the Virtual Banks.
CAUTION3: The Virtual Bank data resides in SD only, and this editor does not alter DX7's internal memory.
CAUTION4: Portamento settings are stored in the Portamento Bank.
If you find any problems, or if you find new sounds or something of interest, please let me know.
Type 1: 2DCO synth

This editor makes DX a 2DCO-1VCF-1VCA synthesizer.
The digital oscillators has the pitch and harmonics settings.
OSC1 has FB parameter that emphasizes the harmonics.
OSC2 has Self-FM that feeds back its output to itself.
The same filter envelope controls the harmonic shift of both OSCs.
The 2OSCs share the same amplitude Attack and Release. Only the Decay times can be set individually.
The "Sweep" mode sets the fixed frequency mode. In this mode, the Pitch parameter controls the sweeping rate, and the Harmonics parameter controls the pitch.

Type 2: Dual 3-OP FM synth

This editor makes DX a Dual 3-OP FM synthesizer.
It has 2 pairs of 3-OP FM synths. The same settings are shared except detune and feedback.
All modulators share the same envelope.
There is one Feedback for one of the 3-OP tower.
In the FB Mode 3, the feedback affects the Modulator2.
In the FB Mode 4, the feedback affects the 3-OP tower itself.
