KORG DDD-1 (Digital Dynamic Drums) is a 12-bit PCM drum machine with velocity sensitive pads and sampling capability (optional).

DDD-1 Overview

12-bit PCM, 8-polyphonic.
Pitch, Decay, Pan, and Velocity sensitivity can be edited.
14 velocity-sensitive pads..
6 individual outputs .
 4 ROM card slots to expand the drum samples. KORG made over 50 ROM cards.
 3.2 sec samples can be used with the optional sampling board.

Related Models

KORG DDD-5 came out in 1987 with new PCM samples - it sounds more up to date with late-80s atmosphere. It has only two ROM card slots and no sampling expandability.

KORG DRM-1 is the rack mount version of DDD Series. It can use 4 ROM Cards. The remote controler is used to edit everything. Phase control of the samples is added.

KORG S3 is the 16-bit PCM drum synthesizer. The 8 velocity-pads seem to be inherited from DDD series, and its synthesis engine is the filter-less version of M1.
