Mind the gap!

I've not been posting to this 'blog that much, which is partly down to not having time and partly down to posting on my LiveJournal too much.

Today I've decided to revamp this site (notice I now have comments and trackback!) and use it a bit more. There are a few reasons for this:

1, LiveJournal seems to be becoming a more and more insular community. I was at a friend's birthday party recently and most of the people there were LJ users. The thing is that they pretty much all admitted to browsing only other LJ members 'blogs.

2, My original reasons for setting up a second 'blog was to give me somewhere for my more "serious" posts, leaving my LJ for the day-to-day junk I wanted to put somewhere on the 'net. I haven't really been doing any "serious" 'blogging anywhere recently and my junk posts have increased - I want to change this.

3, I've been really busy lately and haven't have much quality "geek" time. I intend to change this and start doing software development again (I've been doing pretty much 100% support for the last month or so).

So, hopefully I'll start posting a bit more to this site and I'll get the time to post some (hopefully) interesting stuff about the software development I'm doing and some other facets of my life (photography, for instance)...
