Rainbows Children’s
Hospice is located in Loughborough, Leicestershire on the edge of the Charnwood
Forest and is the children’s hospice
for the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. Rainbows provides respite, palliative
and terminal care to families that include a child with a life limiting illness.
2007 sees the
launch of Rainbows Hospice ‘Building for the Future’ appeal
to expand the hospice and develop the facilities. This will benefit everyone
who currently depends on Rainbows. The six extra beds that will be incorporated
will allow children and young people and their families/friends to have more
nights staying in the hospice.
The appeal will raise money to redesign the current hospice facilities to
allow young people their own purposely-designed separate sleeping unit so
that all age groups can use the hospice at the same time. (They can’t
at present because of Dept of Health regulations).
The new building will offer more opportunities to the children and young
people - a hydrotherapy pool, young people’s sitting room, extended
therapy facilities, an education and training suite, and new offices for
the community and activity teams.
This appeal is so important and will benefit all the children, young people
and families in the care of the hospice. The improved facilities will help
current hospice services expand further to meet the needs of these very special
people.
