a few of my favorite things- vol. 4

jackie chan
i've been watching jackie chan movies since i was a kid. i still love watching. i am still amazed. i love how he always play the good guy. seriously- does anybody know of a movie where he was the bad guy?

IMDb
try it- you'll find your self searching the internet movie data base while watching.

house, m.d.
i'm addicted to it. i think he's very sexy and funny.

johnson's moisture care baby wash
we got it for kailea, but i find myself using it more than i use my own grown up body wash. it's everything i love in johnson's baby lotion, in bath gel form. baby soft skin and the delicate mild fresh baby smell. who can resist?

bodum french press
finally, real coffee on the weekends.

tom robbins
been around a while, but this recent find is an absolute joy. it's not about the story, it's how the story is told. i'm on to my second tom robbins novel

trader joe's
a neat concept. i'm a big fan. trouble is, i find myself going in even when i don't need anything and come out- a bagful of goodies in my hand.

edamame
alright- this one is more kailea's favorite than mine. i boil half a bag (from trader joe's), season with salt, serve hot and they disappear in minutes. it's yummy, fun to eat and healthy.

a few of my favorite things- vol. 3

body by victoria
cami and string. white, of course. perfect for lounging.

chocolate covered gummy bears
one must try a bag from your favorite candy headquarters. slightly chilled. do not leave in the car (especially if you live in guam) or you'll end up with a whole blob of mutant gummy bears covered in unpleasant looking chocolate.

nora jones
those sweet words.

a tiny treasury of african proverbs
4 square inch of wonderfully wise, simple proverbs that offer much insight.

widgets
widge what? kinda hard for me to explain in geeky terms. but i gotta have them.

latitude 13
.....the world by josie- a five foot-two inch wonder.

seared tuna pepper roll
a new favorite. available only at tsurugi's. i love sushi.

flickr
easy and fun. perfect for storage, sharing and viewing other people's passion...thanks to josie for the gift of a pro account.

archiflash
flash cards had always been a fun and learn tool. i never thought i'd be using one at this age, but it works and it is packed. a lot of information with a lot of fun. right, chris?

alton brown
the geek god of food tv.

a few of my favorite things- vol. 2

toblerone of switzerland
swiss milk chocolate with honey and almond nougat...now you know why i am such a chocolate snob.

cole haan
best pair of loafers i ever had. it's comfy, durable and basic- the perfect shade of brown.

oyster on a half shell
eaten raw, like a real oyster aficionado, its the best way to savor the subtle taste of the ocean. as a kid, i remember grilling them until the shells partly open, then armed with butter knife, i pry them open, slurp. another way i've known they are prepared is to let them sit and 'cook' in vinegar- with lots of garlic and black pepper. this summer, chris introduced grilled oysters with thai sriracha sauce. hot.

pottery barn catalog
i particularly like the pottery barn kids. can't imagine how much fun i'd have with an unlimited budget and a huge bedroom/bath/study/playroom to fill with pottery barn kids items. yes, most of the kids' rooms in the catalog looks like a kid's suite. i think it's time to re-order beddings for the girl's room....

alias
i'm hooked the minute she walked into the cia office, red hair and all. that girl runs a lot!

body flow
change the way you feel about your body. be longer, stronger, more flexible. stretch, relax, meditate. soothe your mind and body. the music is awesome too.

barefoot contessa
my lifestyle if i live in east hampton.

linnea's
monday night is my study buddy night. after trying out a couple of cafe's we found one that has been all around perfect. the coffee is from local grown beans and are just aromatic and flavorful. no foam cups, we use coffee mugs of different shapes, sizes and colors. the tables are small and cozy. art in every form wall paper every vertical space. a bunch of regulars. a spanish club meet. and what's best- monday night is waffle night. i always get my usual. 'euro' style. it's banana, whipped cream and nutella. oh, and yup- i learn a thing or two.

warm vanilla sugar body cream
has a mild but sensually powerful scent. soft, smooth and silky skin. bath & body works- pleasures.

silk pillow top luxury bed.
yes, we purchased a new bed. literally, not much tossing and turning at night. no backpains in the morning. luxurious and supportive. now, if i can only find perfect beddings...

a few of my favorite things- vol. 1

although i am not one to indulge in luxurious goods, i have a few things i enjoy. some may find it pretty simplistic. but i believe there is luxury in the integrity of things that are simple...

johnson's baby lotion- pink
subtle scent, lightly creamy. even the color is pleasantly- pink. best for babies, even for mommy.

pure beech natural fiber sheet set
brent picked it up at bed, bath & beyond for kailea's bed. it was so soft and smooth i decided it was meant to be saved for house guests to savor. no, we don't have a guest room and we pretty much have our apartment filled up with furniture but we try to make every guests' stay special. it's the small touches that make their stay memorable. make them feel more welcome. as my lola (grandma) used to tell me- we're supposed to make them feel like kings and queens but at the same time, i try not to overwhelm them. after all- they come to visit with us.

ipod
may our love be your music- need i say more?

the art of happiness- a handbook for living by his holiness, the dalai lama
i picked it up at bestseller in guam while phill teases me about being at the self-help section. very sincere. you could read the goodness of man. and i'd like to think it rubbed off on me, even just a little tiny bit.

canon powershot a60
it's the best for me- of course i haven't tried the real expensive, high end, newer digital cameras with all the bells and whistles. but this one works for me. it's the right size (i have a small hand), the right weight, the right fit for shooting pictures that speaks a thousand memories. i talked with my sister last night and she asked me where i got the plumeria photo i posted for malu. she wasn't aware that i took all the photos i post. all with no monkeying with colors and minimal cropping. all i really do is re-size.

chapstick- strawberry
so crude. but it works. it smells fresh, tastes great (i don't eat it) and keeps lips soft and smooth with a little tint of color. i am not a big fan of anything on my lips...except in the winter months. now i always buy at least one everytime we go to wal-mart.

beth chapman nielsen
a great cd. healing. powerful. very admirable work.

anthology
a local store with all the goodies- vintage and new. i do love beautiful things...most of the time- they come with a high price tag. they even handwrite the receipts in lovely printed stationery. i have never really purchased anything from that store for myself or the house...still, i stop by every time we are downtown.

christine castro
is she for real? she seem to be the sweetest, gentlest, kindest person i know (in the web). her art is simple and nice. her writing pure and true.

my hugging pillow
i'm not a cuddle bug. i would give brent 5 minutes every night when i let him wrap his arms around me, put his face so close to mine and then i do the 'hug and roll' technique. i hug him real tight, give him a kiss, whisper goodnight in his ear and roll back to my side of the bed (about 3/4 of our california king size bed). the next five minutes are spent tossing and turning, popping my bones and trying to find a comfortable position...usually on my side, my pillow against my chest and my butt sticking out. so yeah, i'm not a real cuddly person but i do love to be woken up with a kiss...
