birth and death

i picked kailea up from day care this afternoon. she was in the backyard, swinging as high as she can with her belly on the seat. she was soaring, almost like flying with her arms stretched out and legs straight. as the swing slows down, she started drooping, wilting. until the swing came to a complete stop and she just let her arms and legs drop. eyes closed. it was quiet for a moment and then she springs back to life and says, 'and this is how i die. mommy.' morbid? death is this week's fascination, along with birthdays- hers.
it's funny how most people see birth as the beginning and death- well, the end. my child had it all figured out. death isn't always the end.
