fire 101



while hiking in yosemite a couple of months ago, kailea asked me how to make a fire. i picked up a couple of sticks and showed her (well, unsuccessfully). she decided to give it a try. a few rubs, no fire. 'it's not working.', she said. i told her it's really hard. she ignored what i had just said and gave it another try, rubbing faster and harder. after a few minutes of trying, she said, 'it's ok, i'll practice at home.'
