twelve traditions- no. 3

christmas party

i just realized that brent and i have been going to the same christmas parties for 9 years (been going home together for 8). we've had the best ones, from island, big and fabulous to simple and elegant. best part is, we all get to see our colleagues dressed up a bit and ready for fun. this is the time we can all hug and kiss without 'sexual harassment' coming to mind, not that it happens(ed) where i work(ed). this is the time you get to meet the wives or husbands, boyfriends or girlfriends- 'the date'. the time to challenge your fellow intern to a drinking match, give gag presents to your boss, or just simply enjoy the great food and open bar. best of all, no work and all play.

i love the office christmas party. i get to put on a little make-up, wear my little black dress, be happy and drink, usually a little more than i need. these past three years, i've been initiating the 'martini bar' hop. this last one was pretty special, as louie ortega, a local musical artist and brent's favorite was playing at blues. it was a good night.
