Ben Quilty's winning painting of Margaret Olley is a wonderful work. The white skin is actually not a paint, but, he left the color of linen. This I found very interesting.
Del Kathryn Barton, Nicholas Harding, Amanda Marburg, Song Ling, Craig Ruddy are some of my favorites.

"Interior view of the old Burgtheater" is really a great work. There are not many paintings or drawings by two of my favorite artists, still, I really enjoyed this exhibition.

This is my entry photo, "Requiem for the victims of Japan Earthquake". (110 x 48 cm)
I was deeply shaken by the recent tragic events in Japan, and have been trying to conceptualize my emotional response to it in the form of photography.
"This work utilizes two visual symbolisms: the people who perished in the water, and the threat of nuclear meltdown.
The image as a whole however, radiates a sense of hope for the future, as if transcending into the realm of eternity."
The homestead is a lovely place, so, if you're interested, please go have a look.

Lewis Miller, Pam Halland, Greg Weight
June 05 Sun, 2011 Arts

After a life drawing class, I went to Australian Galleries.
Miller's paintings are delicate study of still life. I didn't like his nude paintings though.
Halland's drawings are very powerful, and Weight's photos are dynamic landscape.
I also went to 69 Smith Street Gallery and Brunswick Street Gallery, but, nothing interested me.
Sean Scully, Nathan Coley

It was a fascinating talk, mostly behind the scene stories of how the gallery acquired the painting "Queen of the Night".
I've never heard of this artist, but, this painting, right at the entrance of the room, is surely to invite viewers to his conceptual journey to his mind. I liked it a lot.
Other artists in the room includes Helen Frankenthaler, Mark Rothko, Robert Morris, Eva Hesse, Lee Krasner, Andy Warhol and Joan Mitchell.
I also went to ACCA, there's "Appearances" exhibition. I saw his work "Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens" last October. I really liked his lecture work "Another Lecture". This is a video where Cate Blanchett narrates an architect's slideshow, I mean, she makes a comment on her "urban projects", describing them as if they're very serious art projects, but, actually, these are just ordinary, mundane subjects, like, broken sign posts, wooden barriers, empty shop, etc. It's very funny. I like it very much.
Emily Floyd in her studio

It was really fascinating to meet and hear the artist's thought process and actually see notes, books, drawings, prototypes, etc, of her works laid out on the big table, and, all those big machines she uses.
Very precious opportunity, really.
Galleries in Fitzroy
May 26 Thu, 2011 Arts
I went to a few galleries in Fitzroy.
At James Makin Gallery, "Only Human" by Tamara Dean. Beautiful and poetic photographic works.
At Cambridge Studio Gallery, Teresa Martin's delicious paintings of streetscapes in Melbourne and New York.
At Sutton Gallery, "Phantom" by Simon terrill. These photos are very powerful and emotive.

I had a fantastic time talking with Michael, and found that he's offering a printing service as well. I used to go to Fitzroy, but, I'd like to ask him to do my photo printing. He's a wonderful man, very passionate about photography.
Galleries in city

I went to some galleries in city.
At Anna Schwartz Gallery, there's Emily Floyd's "An Open Space" exhibition, a playful installation.
At Tolarno Galleries, there's Louise Herman, sublime paintings.
At Stephen Mclaughlan Gallery, Stephen Wichham's "Dark Mantras as Dark Matter".
And "Top Arts" at National Gallery.
