I have seen the vultures eat the dead.

The Nomad

When I realized I was naked,
I left the tribe,
running under leering skies
to this quiet, hidden place.
I am constructing a covering out of zebra skins.

The Poet

The words of the poet: Before the Awakening, there was only rush of sound and blur of sensation.
Now we know the world by naming its parts:

the Shining Water
the Eland
the Grassland
the Fountain

These things I grasp, but in my heart I still wonder, "Who will name us?"
