A New Photoblog Site
After three years and 532 entries, I'm moving to a new blogging platform - Wordpress. You can find my new photoblog site at the same domain: www.virginiajournal.org
I'll keep this address active - at least until I have a chance to transfer my old entries to the new platform. Thanks for all your feedback and support, and check out: Virginia Journal 2.0

Luke and Andrea will be moving here soon. They have friends who own this house. They will be living in a back apartment but will have a communal kitchen.

On the Road: The Caravan
We visited with a North Carolina couple, Hope and Jessie, who are living in a hand built gypsy wagon (or caravan) near Raleigh. They will be building an earth house later this year. We also spent time with Jessie's parents in their solar powered cabin. I have much appreciation for these creative and generous people.

On the Road: A Morning at Luke and Andrea's House
We drove down to North Carolina for Nolan's ordination service. We stayed with Luke and Andrea in Raleigh and had a chance to visit with Lish and Jessamine on Saturday.

Nolan, Anna Maria, and Lish during Saturday brunch (after a trip to the awesome Raleigh Farmer's Market). Thanks to Andrea and Luke for their great hospitality!

Maggie Turns Five
Images from two birthday parties.

Maggie blows out candles the night before her birthday.

Our church small group held a party on Sunday.

A wild small person.

The grownups have some quiet conversation and tea after the children continue the party with a sitter.

Moth and Daffodil
Anna Maria noticed this moth perched on a daffodil last night. I photographed it for an hour in the evening via flash, and it was still there in the morning. Though my camera was but an inch away, it never moved from its deep slumber. In the morning, as the sun began to warm the air, the moth slowly, slowly opened its wings like tiny, pale green solar panels. And then in moment, it regained consciousness. I swear it looked straight up at me with a brief, startled expression before taking to the sky in energetic flight.
