The Role of the Teaching/Learning Consultant (TLC)

The position of Teaching/Learning Consultant (TLC) is designed to increase awareness of the importance of learning and teaching on local campuses in the Connecticut Community College system.

TLCs' responsibilities include the following:

• Serving on the campus Center for Teaching (CFT) committee
• Serving on the Steering Committee of the statewide CFT (or designating another CFT member to do so.)
• Developing and coordinating activities in key areas of teaching and learning
• Making themselves available to faculty who seek assistance with teaching and learning on a confidential basis
• Working with TLCs at other colleges to prepare and offer cooperative programs
• Making faculty and teaching staff aware of the resources available to assist their professional development in teaching
• Obtaining and disseminating material on workshops and seminars on teaching
• Working on various ways to integrate part-time faculty into the professional life of the college and the system
• Being a resource on teaching and learning for the college community
• Attending regular TLC seminars/workshops
• Developing a personal body of knowledge on teaching and learning
