
The Role of the Teaching/Learning Consultant (TLC)
The position of Teaching/Learning Consultant (TLC) is designed to increase awareness of the importance of learning and teaching on local campuses in the Connecticut Community College system.
TLCs' responsibilities include the following:
- Serving on the campus Center for Teaching (CFT) committee
- Serving on the Steering Committee of the statewide CFT (or designating another CFT member to do so.)
- Developing and coordinating activities in key areas of teaching and learning
- Making themselves available to faculty who seek assistance with teaching and learning on a confidential basis
- Working with TLCs at other colleges to prepare and offer cooperative programs
- Making faculty and teaching staff aware of the resources available to assist their professional development in teaching
- Obtaining and disseminating material on workshops and seminars on teaching
- Working on various ways to integrate part-time faculty into the professional life of the college and the system
- Being a resource on teaching and learning for the college community
- Attending regular TLC seminars/workshops
- Developing a personal body of knowledge on teaching and learning
