Bonaire, 2008, with divers “too”

The dive operator at the Plaza is Toucan Diving. I got my Advanced Open Water Certification with them when I was there three years ago, under a Toucan instructor. Len did the same this trip, under Carl.

Divers are required to attend a briefing on Bonaire’s Marine Park before they may dive. In addition, Toucan requires that each diver make an initial checkout dive from the beach. Supervision of a dive master is not required.

Toucan Diving operates three dive boats: the Green Flash, the Blue Moon, and the Purple Rain. Two-tank boat dives leave the dock at 8:30 each morning, and one-tank dives leave at 2:00 in the afternoon.

As Carl will tell you, Toucan Diving is rebreather friendly. For details, check with him.

Unlimited free nitrox is available for qualified divers. Aluminum 80 tanks of air and nitrox are available 24 hours a day for shore diving. Stashes of air tanks are kept at convenient dressing and rinse stations near the Plaza’s two shore entries and at the dive shop.

Dive gear is available for rent, and storage lockers are available for divers’ equipment.

Toucan Diving are customer focused to a fault. George, one of the managers, is perfect: gracious and adapting to one’s needs, and making sure that all problems are solved and all questions answered.
