Della Robbia : Artist Statement

My final project at ICP was centered around the eccentric characters that live in my apartment building, Della Robbia, on the Upper West Side. The diversity of my neighbors intrigues me.  I befriended my subjects, which allowed me to capture them at their most intimate moments.  I gained their trust.  I was given access to their apartments without them being there, which allowed me to explore and investigate their homes and uncover their most private belongings which reflected the diversity of each character.  Alone with their things behind closed doors I discovered their obsessions, their sadness, their loneliness, their humanity.
