Scott Cummins of Take-One Productions, Director of "The Tressaurian Intersection"

Scott Cummins entered the Starship Exeter world when he discovered the Exeter Website prior to the release of "The Savage Empire." "I had [it] bookmarked for a few months before release-- checking it every so often to see what was happening. Finally, on Dec. 19, 2002, it was posted... I was probably one of the first that watched it." Once the Exeter team announced another episode was planned, Scott contacted them. Originally slated to direct "The Mighty Galvanaut," he transitioned over to "The Tressaurian Intersection" (or TTI, as fans have dubbed it) when the former had to be abandoned, but has no regrets: "We ended up with a far superior script."
Interestingly, "The Tressaurian Intersection" is not Scott's first fan film. Scott began preparing for his role as director of TTI at an early age, by making the Trek satire "Star Crap" his senior year in high school. "I appear as several characters-- including Dr. McJoy." he confesses, then warns, "In order for anyone to see it, they'll have to pay a pretty steep price!" Fortunately, his recent work on Starship Exeter is free for all to see.
But "Star Crap" and TTI don't represent the full breadth of Scott's work. Between these intergalactic bookends, he's directed a number of other films-- some completed, some not (due to budgetary constraints). Most notable are "The Case of the Mysterious Stranger" (2002) and "Kelly D: Afterlife Consultant" (2005); the latter a black comedy Scott directed after sponsoring a screenplay competition on his Website. "It had a theme I hadn't heard before. It was a cute idea... amusing. There were moments in it that had potential to be hilarious."
Check out "Kelly D" on the Take-One Website, where you can see the poster and view the trailer. Heck, you can even order the movie; which Scott funded from his own pocket! "I lived in the po' house for a while during production!" laments the director.
The sacrifices we make for art...
[ADDITIONAL NOTE: As Scott continues working with the Exeter editing team on the final acts of "The Tressaurian Intersection," he is also producing the bi-weekly audio Podcasts that coincide with the current STARSHIP EXETER release.]
