Answer to Still Trying To Get It Right...

     Emperor Nappy has done it again...put the cart before the horse! Well, it's not his first mistake and it certainly won't be his last. 

     Let's see if you can calculate the vertical and horizontal components of the force exerted by Nappy's horse on the cart. The horse is pushing with a force of 500 N at an angle of 40° with respect to the ground. Be sure to indicate the directions of the forces! Don't you make any mistakes, now!

The horizontal and vertical components are:
    (500 N)cos 40° = 383 N (forward) and
    (500 N)sin 40° = 321 N (downward), respectively.
