Conundrums and Camping

Yes, my three week iBlog free ride ended today. I thought I had a month, but no matter. I paid the 955 Rupees and got my registration key.

The key was sent immediately, which I appreciate. I even started to look up the time difference between the eastern US and India, to see how long I had to wait for the iBlog folks to wake up. I'm glad the turnaround was automated as I am up to my ass in Online Status indicator conundrums.

I am now on my third Online Status server. I went with thekill, who lasted about 24 hours before the server became unreliable. Then I used ... zonehosting ... I had to look it up - you know it's bad when.... Now I am with lifeless people, as of today, and I can't comment yet on the reliability of their hosting. I also checked out arkansasmall as a host today, but their sample icons weren't even working, an indication, I think, that THEY were down for the count.

Could it be that they are all tied into onlinestatus.org who are the real culprits in this reliablilty dilemma? If I see problems with lifelesspeople, I might do a little further investigating.

Anyway, averaging one online status host a week does not bode well for me. I even moved that section to the bottom of my navigation bar for a few horrendous days, hoping to keep the top, first-visible portion of my website more clean. But I really want my status where it resides today.

E has asked me more than once to help her put an indicator (she probably needs only one) on her redesigned site, but I still hesitate to use any of these services, especially when she needs her site to be perfectly professional.

No, the picture has nothing to do with the blog entry. I've been feeling poorly the past few days and have neglected to put up more photos of my camping trip to the Iron Horse Motorcycle Campground near the Dragon. So I combined the pic with my web lamentations. Oh, and the Iron Horse may have some competition next spring, when they hope to be fully operational. I heard from Britt at Two Wheels Only that a campground was going up near the Cherohala Skyway. A little online searching found the Cherohala Motorcycle Resort, not yet open for business.

If I feel better, we are going to a bluegrass jam session in Brasstown tonight. I'll bring the camera and <rant>FULLY CHARGED BATTERIES</rant> so maybe I will back in blog business tomorrow.
