Breakfast With Ian

Ian came by this morning on the way to his place near Asheville

Cajun thinks a motorcycle coming down the driveway is a good thing, and she welcomes two-wheeled visitors with the same fervent tail-wagging she gives me when I return from a long trip in the woods.

Ian and I were IMing yesterday about cameras and PC screen-shots (I still crash my Dell AND its dedicated printer when I try to capture the desktop) and we agreed that he would join us for breakfast here at Moonshine Lodge. We would be a perfect first stop on his way from Atlanta to his property in Crabtree, North Carolina.

E loves to prepare Baked Eggs and Mushrooms in Ham Crisps for guests. Except for the getting-up-early part, that is. And I knew Ian would be right on time, too. What we didn't know is how much coffee the boy drinks. I made twice as much as I normally do, and it was gone before the eggs were. Notice the lack of any other liquid refreshment on the table. Orange Juice is our Thanksgiving cranberry sauce.

Once we stuffed ourselves we got to lying about bikes and computers. Ian mentioned Ted Nelson and nanobucks and transcopyrights. That immediately reminded me of whuffie, from Cory Doctorow's "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom".

Ian was quite pleased to see the BMWMOA Forum was getting some decent page-view numbers, especially on the Iron Butt Rally thread. Ian and E could have talked all day about Dreamweaver and Flash, but he needed to get up to Asheville.
