Jacobi/Taylor Canoe Team makes US Olympic TeamI don't have all the details, but Lisa Jacobi sent out an email early
this morning to announce that Joe and Matt have made the US Olympic team.
Here is a copy of the email:
<headers edited> Hi Everyone! It's early here and my eyes are way too blurry to be sending emails, but I am. Joe called at 4:45am this morning from Athens, Greece. He and Matt Taylor made the U.S. Olympic Team in Whitewater Canoe Slalom this weekend. He'll be representing the little ol' Copper Basin at the Olympic Games! This household is thrilled beyond belief. Joe just never stops surprising me. I mean, he was an Olympian 12 years ago, and now he's gone and done it again. Who sticks with something so intense for 12 years like that! Good for him! Good for Matt, who represented the U.S. at the Olympics in Australia in 2000. Wow, it just dawned on me.. two-two-time-Olympians. Ha! Joe asked me to please get the word out to all of our friends just as soon as I could and I know when he sees you in person, he'll be thanking you once again for sticking with him and us and our wacky never boring life-style. He says the 2004 Olympic Games will be his last Games ... as an athlete. This I know to be true. But what he does from September forward will most certainly be as interesting. Well the Games get underway in August. Anyone want to go? If so, looks like I'm ticket-central, as the Olympic ticket and travel process is convoluted at its best. But we would love having anyone there in our part of the Athens, Greece bleacher cheering section. Joe's email address is <edited> Matt's address is <edited> If you get a sec, drop them a line. xo LJ PS... our life is operated in quadrennials around here. Just since the last Olympic Games, Joe and I conceived and gave birth to Séu Jane and now we have this amazing 3-year-old world of activity in our lives. Matt and Kieran gave birth to TWO little girls. It sure has made the time pass very quickly. This week, Séu Jane and I will be a team to go out and buy red, white & blue balloons for the mailbox at the end of our gravel lane. Welcome Home Joe -- Good Work!
