I like to check changes to my site before I publish them. It's easy to see the unpublished site on Safari on my the iBook via iBlog, which opens Safari and pastes the local url. I used to have to publish in order to view the changes on my Dell with either Internet Explorer or FireFox.

Laptop Batteries Eventually Wear Out

My last two entries have linked themselves. In Firefox, you can click the Google logo at the left of your search input box in the Toolbar. It's actually a drop-down menu. Click on "Add engines...." You will be directed to a plug-in site within Mozilla's web pages. Search for Vivisimo, it's there. Clicking on the result will automatically install the plug-in, and Vivisimo will be available the next time you invoke the drop-down menu. You can even make it your default.

I Give Up - Online Status Indicators

My third online status host became unreliable in only four days. I switched to lifelesspeople.org last weekend. You would think a group with that name would have plenty of time to watch their servers.

I reported my problems with my online status indicators here last on August 30. Since then I have been through several online status hosts. Heck, it might be more than three. The hosting services would allow me to show whether my IM clients are signed in or not, IF they worked with any reliability. Bright-colored icon - online; greyscale icon - offline.
