Viewing my site locally

I like to check changes to my site before I publish them. It's easy to see the unpublished site on Safari on my the iBook via iBlog, which opens Safari and pastes the local url. I used to have to publish in order to view the changes on my Dell with either Internet Explorer or FireFox.

In order to allow viewing of the site locally, I turned on "Personal Web Sharing" in System Preferences>Sharing>Services. That's all the steps there are, since iBlog publishes a complete site in ~Sites (Users/username/Sites). Apple placed a generic index.html in Sites, so I had to remove it so the PC's browser could find the real index.html file created by iBlog.

I pointed my browser at http://xx.x.x.x/~username/iblog/ and the splash page for my sites appeared. I had to add "iblog/" as the program keeps all its files in a subfolder within Sites.

I've tested it with this entry before publishing.
