Address Book Importer

Need to import a database of addresses into OS X Address Book?

Address Book Importer from Roy Design saves lots of time.

I had a sign up sheet from the last Fannin County Democrats meeting. I typed the contact data into an Excel spreadsheet on the Win98 machine for inclusion in our mass marketing contacts. I wanted these particular folks in my own Address Book, also, but I didn't want to retype the information.

I separately saved the Excel file as a tab-delimited file (Text & Tabs in the File>Save As menu item). Moved it over to the Mac. Used it as my selection under Choose File in Address Book Importer. Mapped the columns, and selected Imported Addresses as my import group. Pushed Import and waited about 20 seconds.

The import was absolutely perfect. No cleanup. I copied the new vcards to the actual Group in which I wanted to see them. Done.
