osx2x

I've moved the Dell's keyboard and [crappy] mouse off my desk, and I'm controlling it and the iBook from the iBook's keyboard, mouse and trackpad. Very pleased, very pleased, with the extra space.

osx2x is a strange little program, and it might be a bit buggy - it crashed on me the first time I tried to use it. So far, though, after trashing the original preference file, it has worked perfectly. Update: osx2x crashes for me when the "Store VNC passwords in keychain" preference is checked. If not checked, the program works as it is otherwise supposed to. I sent an email to the author in England last night.

I installed osx2x on my iBook (10.2.8). I already had Ultr@VNC (see last paragraph) on the Win98SE Dell, and have it set to start serving on startup. The trickiest thing was remember my Dell's network address and Ultr@'s password.

Oh, and read the online help. I learned a few good tricks.
