1967 Corvette 427 Roadster - (built 1996)

Here is my absolute dream car. It's a '67 Chevy Corvette 427 roadster which I was inspired to build when I found a broken original AMT body at a swap meet.

I restored this previously built original 1967 AMT model kit several years before Revell came out with their all new kit of the Corvette 427 roadster. When I re-built this one, it was a pretty rare model because AMT hadn't re-issued this model kit since 1967. Because I really liked this car so much I thought that it would be worth the effort.

When I got it, the windshield and pillars were completely broken off and the hood was missing. I grafted a new windshield section from a re-issued '63 Prestige convertible Corvette kit. The same kit also provided lots of other missing parts and both up tops. Many other parts including a better detailed chassis came from Monogram's '65 vette. The ModelHaus provided a resin replacement hood. For better realism I opened up the hood scoop with a dremel tool.

Other details include complete engine wiring, many photo-etched trim pieces, wheels from a Revell '67 Chevelle SS396 model kit with hand painted red line tires, foil cast emblems, factory original Marina Blue lacquer paint, and Fred Cady decals. I also photo reduced an original 1967 Corvette brochure for the front seat. Until I can afford the real thing, this model gives me something to dream about.
