Daddy Warbucks 1965 Ford Falcon A/FX altered wheelbase drag car- (built 2005) I built this replica of Phil Bonner's Daddy Warbuck's '65 Falcon from the recent Model King re-issue of the old AMT kit. I built the model mostly out of the box, but I did add a few modifications. All the side trim was removed from the body to match the real altered wheelbase drag car. The turn signals were removed from the front bumper and then it was sprayed silver to look like a fiberglass part. I added photoetched hood pins to the hood. The side windows and the window frames were scratch built. I also wired and plumbed the front fuel tank and parachute. The paint is Testors' new laquer based red color which is a very close match to the real car. It was applied straight from a spray can and then overcoated with PPG concept 2000 urethane clear shot through an airbrush. Because reference photos of the actual car are pretty hard to find I also took a guess at some of the details. In the end, I decided to not worry so much about making the car and exact replica and just concentrate on making it look what I thought would be period correct. I am pretty happy with it.
