This flight was on a day with gusty winds and I violated my primary V2 rule which is to launch it well away from the wind. I launched it farily vertical and it tipped off the rod and flew a ballistic path. All would have still been OK, as the chute deployed at a good altitude, but the speed was too high and the drogue stripped its steel ring, somehow still managing to not pull out the main (probably because of the weight of the nose).
The main damage is to the body tube, which is not the size of any standard paper body tube. A verdict on repair awaits further investigation.
