What's the deal with hobbies? Is it just a silly way to while away some time? Well, it is for some people, but properly approached, a hobby can provide an alternattive focus from your primary occupation that is stimulating and rejuvinating. When I was a kid, it seemed much more common for people to take on ambitious projects. Remember Heathkit? I remember a friend of my parents who built a Heathkit TV, and another fellow who built an airplane in his garage. Doesn't seem like people go in for this sort of thing on the scale they once did.
