As I start the layout planning process, I am working in the following order:
1. Come up with an overall scheme I like that places the major layout elements in the basement. This will not inlcude many details, just enough to make sure that it will work OK. At this point I have several schemes I am toying with, but none that I am completely confident about. UPDATE 03/2005: I now have an overall scheme that is an acceptable compromise for me. I have not created files that show it yet, but the Current Plan file has some in it.
2. Lay out McKees Rocks yard in detail. The main purpose of this step is to determine where the bridge to Neville Island will be. UPDATE 03/2005: I am not going to do this yet. I have set aside plenty of space for the yard and so I have proceeded to Step 3.
3. Design Neville Island in detail. I plan to construct Neville Island first, scenic it, and then be able to operate it as a switching/interchange layout while I build the rest of the layout.
