Music mp3, Pocasts, and such

The Music section of Jaffa Mountain has been turned into seperate blogs to enable me to chuck stuff up easier
As a result all the tunes are now available on 3 RSS podcasts

I have yet to find a good way to combine them all into one podcast from the 3 seperate blogs, but will probably update in the future when I do so.

Mid summers Resolution: must stop using Patch A-86 Cow Vibes

So I though it proper to make a note to myself to withhold from the overuse of this synth patch I've used on several tracks now :) Oh the shame, back in earlier days I would thrown upon any person using presets on a synth. ( and still do to most extents ) but I have kind of fallen accustom to this one patch for the way it fits in with so many tracks so well.

I've been busy the past few months finishing of the graphics and sound for our new Xbox LIVE Arcade version of Airburst. The XBLA version will have a few more of the interactive like tunes that change subtly with game play. The advantage of these is they never sound entirely the same way each time you play a game. On top of that will be a few remixes of Airburst Extreme tracks I've come to never tire with.

A few of these tracks make use of the WSG synth I built here, so will be a future write up on some of its usage to come.

Airburst XBLA has been a total re-write from ground up to make use of all the funky features of the Xbox 360, this has also meant I have had to spend rather a lot more time on the graphics side of the game, thus making it quite an effort to get in a whole bunch of extra tracks at the same time. The end result is proving excellent though, with the high-res screen resolution, extra music and Xbox 360 controllers feeling an almost perfect way to play the game.

WSG Update
The Weird Sound Generator, Based on the design from MusicFromOuterSpace, has now transformed from a piece of old cardboard into a funky new shell based on a treacle tin. This forms an excellent shape to use the device. The retro gold knobs are from the sleeve part of an rca connector, sandwiched onto the shafts with some cable sleeve. The next task is to add some Vactrols for external voltage control and generally see how much can be crammed inside the tin before it melts :)

PCB to modular panel bracing

IMG_1466

Finally a use for those spare PCI card blanking panels that always seem to turn up under my feet.

Simply bend at right angle using edge of a desk or more obscure methods. Drill a couple of holes and use to mount your modular synth PCB's to front panels.
In theory you could chop it in two and get a couple of brackets out of one PCI spacer if there's clearance on the panel.

WSG tune

Had to try the WSG out on something, here is first result.

All sound waveforms on this sequence originate from that little bundle of wires with the cardboard faceplate pictured below.
Most were chucked into logic's ultra-beat for a bit of filtering and envelope work and the main sequencing, while one small sound bite went into the emu sampler to make up a simple string patch.
