work begins on enlargement and improvement of el dorado springs animal shelter

On Friday, October 22 city employees, working under the direction of John Burrus, began construction on the new addition of the city animal shelter. When completed the shelter will be twice as large as its current size.

The shelter enlargement was made possible to the City through a gift of $5000.00 from Mike and Diana Baker. Additionally Diana Baker obtained a grant of $2,500.00 from PetCo through the Regional Director of the ASPCA. At this time Baker is working with the ASPCA on future grants for the shelter.

Several local businesses and individuals are assisting through their donations for the purchase of shelter furnishings.

The Bakers have established the Mike and Diana Baker Fund for Animals of El Dorado Springs, which is a tax exempt not-for-profit private foundation. Any business or individual may make a tax deductible donation to the Fund at Heritage State Bank of El Dorado Springs.

The Fund for Animals envisions that the El Dorado Springs Animal Shelter will become a model program in our region. Your donations will help make this possible.
