#26 - El Yanqui Loco (06-97)

what? el yanqui loco? he's el gringo loco in everything else i've written about him. i'm a little puzzled, to say the least.

and why the horizontal format? horizontivision? who was i kidding? i think i just wanted to 'mix it up' just a little. as if anyone had read it enough to think it stale! but see! see how close i was to having a folded format! all i had to do was lay it out just a little differently . . . but no. i missed the boat. too bad!

if anyone can explain to me what i meant by 'makes the "lost world" look like the "smurfs"' i'd be grateful.

this one really isn't very good. christopher slaps his head like a thalidomide baby, then gets hit in the head with a cookie sheet . . . and then there's that regrettable Narrative Voice pointing out that chirp is not a ferret . . .

i never really explored los hermanos armadillos very deeply. they're interesting creatures, and nips must have had a reason for taking them on, but i don't know why. what's their history? where did they come from? who are they, really? except for a couple of (possibly) 'gag' comics, i've written almost nothing about them. they seem to have a sad, almost heroic history, but it's all sort of alluded to. they don't like el gringo loco . . . or el yanqui loco, or whoever the hell he is.

and this format makes it almost completely unreadable online. i apologize! again, i never dreamed these things would be on the internet. indeed, the internet and i had scarcely crossed paths in 1997. next time around, i'll make plans accordingly.
