what is the broadway group? the broadway group's roots extend to the mid-nineties, when its original members began producing comic art. specializing in independent minicomics, the broadway group members are award-winning, self-published, professionally published, gallery-shown, anthologized, and (in their own small way) nationally recognized. it has met at the broadway cafe for over nine years. the broadway group has no organization, no officers, no dues. the broadway group members recognized each other over time, and formed their association through slow experience. anyone who practices the broadway group ethos is liable to be a recognized member. what is the broadway group ethos? • enduring and ongoing practice of the illustrated comic arts • professional respect of comic artists in general, and broadway group members in particular. • continuing artistic vision and purpose. • willingness to expand on the accepted idiom of comics • personal pursuit of quality and the ability to perceive it • dedication to minicomics and the belief that one's work deserves to be seen • knowledge of the comics field's past and present • the belief that the broadway group is part of the future. when does the broadway group meet? the broadway group meets whenever any two members or more are together. it can be any night of the week, or any afternoon; sometimes any morning. currently the broadway group is meeting a great deal on tuesday nights. |
