Episode 1 - Asinus in cathedra

Our story begins at the dorms of Mahora Academy. In the bathing area of the dorms, there are numerous fried tofu (I thought they were sponges) laid out near the bathing pool. Someone emerges from the water, dressed in a fish suit. The girl says to herself that all she needs to do now is say Takahata-sensei's name and do the dance. Apparently, this is some sort of ritual in order to have a wish granted. Each of the objects has Takahata's name written on it along with a heart. As the girl starts chanting and dancing around, someone else comes in. Konoka came in to take a bath. Asuna tells her that she was able to do the incantation just as she described to her. It turns out however, that Konoka made that up and that she was surprised that Asuna actually did it. Then again, she would probably do anything when it comes to Takahata-sensei. By the way, why isn't there anyone around?

"Today is the new semester and probably everyone wanted to get to school early." Konoka tells Asuna.
When realizing that it was 8:30, Asuna panics and both of them hurry to get ready and rush to school, with Asuna running and Konoka using skates

At the train station, the doors to the train open and the students pour out in a massive rush as they exit through the turnstiles and out the door towards campus. A boy with a wooden staff and backpack who seems new to the area emerges as the non-stop flow of students passes by him. An announcement comes over the speaker systems nearby the academy that class will begin in 10 minutes as it welcomes everyone to the new semester.

Asuna and Konoka blend into the morning rush crowd of students as they round the corner. While running, Konoka comments that it would be nice if Takahata became their homeroom teacher again. As she says this, a gust of wind blows through Asuna. She notices someone running alongside of them. The little boy comments about how Asuna seems to have a look at the moment indicative of unrequited love that is distressing her. Asuna comes to a screeching halt and confronts him. The only reason he mentioned that was because he had overheard them talking about incantations and such. Asuna grabs him by the head and screams at him for his little comment. Konoka tells her to calm down, since he is a little kid after all. Asuna expresses her extreme dislike for "little brats". Konoka on the other hand courteously asks him where he was wanting to, thinking that he might be lost. Asuna interjects and tells him that "little brats" aren't allowed here. As she continues to gripe him out, a lock of her hair brushes Negi's face, which causes him to let out a really powerful sneeze, equivalent to a wind blast, revealing Asuna's bear panties. This is really embarrassing for her as he did see her panties. She gets really irritated with him and starts squashing him. They hear the school bell, meaning that classes are starting.
"I don't have time to be dealing with little brats!" Asuna lets go of him and runs to make it to school. Konoka apologizes to Negi and lets him know that the elementary school is at the next stop. She bids him farewell and catches up to Asuna.

The girls of Class 2-A are getting settled in the classroom and talking among themselves. A shy girl (Nodoka Miyazaki) hopes that their teacher will be a woman, since apparently she's a bit nervous around men. Her friends Yue and Haruna tell her that she shouldn't be afraid of men. Perhaps Haruna's manga might help, although it seems to be a yaoi manga. Not exactly a good example to use accoring to Yue.

Asuna and Konoka enter and say hello to Haruna, Yue, and Nodoka. It looks like most everyone ended up in the same class together again, although the class rep Ayaka Yukihiro is less than thrilled about being in the same class as Asuna again. The two of them immediately butt heads. Konoka goes over to greet Setsuna, who is silently standing at the back of the room. Setsuna bows to Konoka and walks over to her seat without saying a word to Konoka.

In the teacher's lounge, Shizuna informs Takahata that Negi-kun is here. He seems really happy that Negi is finally here as he looks at a picture. The picture looks to be a group of men which includes Takahata himself. It sounds like he knows this Negi from some time back.

The students continue to chatter as they wait for the teacher to arrive. Someone is approaching the classroom. Asuna who has the fried tofu in hand, begins to pray that the teacher is Takahata-sensei again. The door opens and in enters the boy that she saw outside of the academy earlier. As he walks in, a blackboard eraser is about to fall on him. He detects this and begins to chant something. The eraser stops in mid-air. He immediately notices Asuna who is looking at him. He had stopped time briefly to avoid the erasesr, but it seems that Asuna wasn't affected. He immediately reverses the spell and allows the eraser to hit him. He then trips on a rope that sends him into a bucket, followed up with suction darts being fired at him. Obviously a little prank set up for the teacher. Although they didn't realize that the trap snared a little kid. As the girls come up to check on him, Takahata enters and informs the girls that he is their new teacher. Asuna is in a bit of a shock upon hearing this.

"As of today, I will be in charge of this class. My name is Negi Springfield. Pleased to meet you everyone!" He bows courteously to everyone. The entire room is silent, with Asuna looking back and forth at Takahata and Negi in disbelief.

Eye Catch / Halfway Point

Negi smiles nervously and informs the girls that he will be teaching English, although he almost slips and says magic. Suddenly, the girls squeal in excitement and mob Negi like a group of fans, knocking Asuna over. The girls begin to ask him a lot of questions since he's so cute.

"Takahata-sensei, is this little boy really our teacher? Are we allowed to have this cute little boy?" Chizuru and Sakurako excitedly ask.
"Hey, hey I didn't give him to you. Don't eat him." he says jokingly. The girls giggle.
"Negi-kun has the proper teaching certifications, but as you can see, he is younger than you all. So be nice to him." The girls gladly accept as they hug Negi.

Asuna stands up and glares at Negi. She swears she saw Negi do something to the eraser. She suspects something and begins to throttle him. Ayaka tells everyone to settle down and take their seats. She directs a comment at Asuna, and in turn she retaliates until a point in which they start fighting again. Negi tries to intervene to stop them, but it's difficult in this situation. As he's about to say something, Takahata steps in and stops the two of them. Asuna points out that Negi had said something rude to her earlier. As Negi attempts to explain himself, he sneezes again, only this time it's powerful enough to tear Asuna's skirt off of her, revealing the bear panties again.

As Takahata leaves Negi to his class, Asuna sits in her seat disgusted, now wearing sweats, since her school uniform got ruined. The girls patiently await for Negi to begin. As Negi starts the session, he runs into a minor problem that since he's short, he can't reach very high on the blackboard. The girls giggle. Ayaka brings him a stool that he can step up on to reach higher.

Asuna definitely suspects something about him. During the class, she starts launching eraser pieces at him, so that maybe he'll do something that will show who he really is. Ayaka asks if something is wrong. He says that he keeps feeling something hit him in the back of the head. She whispers to him that is Asuna who's doing it and basically begins to bad-mouth her. Asuna stands up and tells Ayaka to stop feeding him lies about her. This escalates into another fight. Negi tries to intervene but ends up being knocked into the wall on the other side of the room, landing directly in front of Nodoka, who is sitting quietly at her desk, while everyone else is watching Asuna and Ayaka go at it. Negi gets up and tells Nodoka that since he is the teacher, he has to put a stop to this. As he runs over to them and tries again to stop them, he goes flying once again into the wall. The school bell rings. Class is over and Negi is saved by the bell.

After class, most of the girls are in a group organizing for some sort of party. Asuna ignores this whole thing and sits in her chair, wondering about Negi, since she's very sure that there's something suspicious about him. Ayaka walks up to her and hands her a list. She has given her the job of the shopping list for the party.

Back in the teacher's lounge, Negi is already worn out from his first day on the job. As they are talking, Takahata hands Negi the roll call/roster for the class. He had jotted some info for Negi in order to make getting acquainted with his students much easier.

Nodoka had decided to take care of some library related errands so that Yue and Haruna could go help with set up for the party. The student at the reception desk had heard about a little boy that is their new teacher and asks Nodoka about him. At the store, Asuna starts getting the supplies for the party. Also, she needs one new skirt as well :)

Negi relaxes outside at a large statue on the campus and looks over the class roster. As he looks at Asuna's picture, he decides to take out a pen and draw on her. Not too far from him on the other side of the statue, Asuna had finished the shopping and fumes over Negi being their teacher instead of Takahata-sensei as she makes her way back. Negi looks up and notices Nodoka carrying the large stack of books as she makes her way down the steps. She falls over the side of the staircase. Negi immediately pulls out his staff and chants a spell. Using the power of wind, he levitates her momentarily so that he could run over to catch her. She lands safely on Negi. That was a close call. Negi gets up and checks to see if she's okay. Suddenly, he realizes that there's someone standing near them. He turns around as sees Asuna looking over the two of them. Asuna and Negi stare directly at each other. Although Negi was supposed to keep his magic abilities a secret this entire time, it looks like Asuna just saw what he did...
