Mahou Sensei Negima - as thanks once again for frequent visitors to the site, this week is a double release. First two chapters of Vol. 5, chapters 35 and 36 are now available. Asakura Kazumi has agreed to refrain from exposing Negi's secret. However, since Kamo has been hanging out with her, they're obviously up to something. All of class 3-A is very lively this evening, as they refuse to miss out on the action this time. Although with the academy activities director Nita around, this definitely ruins their fun. Asakura and Kamo's little plan involves a little game that they propose to class 3-A.

The game: The War of Lips
Objective: First girl to kiss Negi-sensei wins. Do it without getting caught by Nita who is patrolling the halls or face the penalty of squatting in the lounge the entire night.
Rules: Only weapons allowed are pillows to stop the other teams. Teams will consist of two members of each group.
The prize: ??? (Hint: Kamo has put up a special magic circle around the hotel for a certain reason...)

Group 1 Fuuka Narutaki Fumika Narutaki
Group 2 Ku Fei Kaede Kagase
Group 3 Ayaka Yukhiro Chisame Hasegawa
Group 4 Yuuna Akashi Makie Sasaki
Group 5 Yue Ayase Nodoka Miyazaki

Who will win? Meanwhile, Negi decides to patrol the area for the evening, although it was suggested that he get some rest. With a little help from Setsuna, some paper doll stencils should help as his substitute while he's out. After making a couple of mistakes writing his name, he finally conjures up a copy of himself. As the game begins, everyone not participating is watching on the action on TV monitors with cameras capturing the excitement. Is it me, or do I see a bunch of Negis running around?

(Definitely a fun and entertaining story arc with cute girls, pillow fights, and lots of craziness. Hope you enjoy it.)

A.I. Love You - Vol. 2 is set for release by Tokyopop on 4/13/04.

On a side note: A few days ago I received the ADV Films 2004 Catalog DVD. If you have a chance to get a hold of this, there are over 50 trailers for anime series that ADV has either released in the past year or will be releasing later this year, plus you can find out some info about most of their anime series. Some definitely worth mentioning are Azumanga Daioh, Cosplay Complex, Happy Lesson OVA, Kaleidostar, Puni Puny Poemi, and Sister Princess. The DVD is available from ADV's website for free, although you do have to pay for shipping; so you might want to throw in something else if you decide to order it as the shipping is a flat rate.

Media Lists - adding more artbook covers on next update.

Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 33 now available. Having rescued Konoka from the Kansai assasin, Negi and his class continue on their class trip. Their next stop: Nara. Shy little Nodoka has had a tremendous crush on Negi for a long time. However, she's never had the courage to tell him how she feels. With a little help from Yue and Haruna, she just might have the perfect opportunity to spend some time alone with Negi-sensei and confess her true feelings. But can she build up enough courage to tell him?

This week's recommendation is a cute little comedy series created by Broccoli, with production/directing by the same people who did Cardcaptor Sakura.

New Anime Recommendation: Galaxy Angel

Story: Milfuelle, Ranpha, Forte, Vanilla, and Mint are the five lovely ladies that make up the Angel Brigade. They are here to save the galaxy, one planet at a time! Their mission is to search for the lost technology. Unfortunately, they themselves don't even know what it is. With various jobs that the Angel Brigade receives and the search for the lost technology, there's always something that brings excitement to their lives.

Each episode of Galaxy Angel is approximately 10-12 minutes long. It has already proven to have a strong following for anime fans in both Japan and the US, considering that the series began only a few years ago. The production company Broccoli has been known for its books and also production of collectibles, especially trading cards of many anime series. The Galaxy Angel series itself consists of the manga series, and 3 seasons of the anime series so far. The first two seasons have already been licensed by Bandai Entertainment, with the 3rd still available on fansubs. Volume 1 of the DVD for the US release is scheduled to be this week, although a lot of retailers had already started shipping. If you do watch anime in english dubs, the Ocean Group who recently did the MegaMan NT Warrior TV series provides the dub, and in my opinion does an excellent job. If you decide to pick up this title, opt for the Collector's Box Set, since Bandai took the liberty of including a lot of extras, and is well worth the extra cost.

Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 32 now available. When we last left Negi, Asuna, and Setsuna, they managed to catch up to the Kansai assasin/spy who holds Konoka hostage. Now it comes to a showdown in the train station. Looks like it's time to call upon Asuna's powers as the three of them attack head on to rescue her, though a mysterious swordswoman appears...

Anime recommendation I will add on next update.

Well, it looks like the Academy Awards were no surprise with Lord of the Rings clobbering everyone in all categories. Anyways, time for the update:

Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 31 is now available. An assasin of the Kansai Magic Association has made her way into the inn where Negi and his students are staying at. It's up to Negi, Asuna, and Setsuna to save Konoka when she is kidnapped. But can they rescue her from someone with this much magical power? Also available for download: single from the Konoka character soundtrack

Added Nodoka card in Media Lists section that will be included in the next Negima Soundtrack due out on 3/24 in Japan.

Ground Defense Force Mao-Chan - update episode listing for US release Vol. 3 in Media Lists section. Just received it today. Time to revisit Hinata Inn in this volume

New Anime Recommendation: True Love Story - Summer Days, and Yet...

Story: Hina for a long time has had feelings for one of her classmates Yuta. Yet it seems that he almost doesn't know who she is. The Ocean Festival of fireworks is coming soon, and she wants to be with him on that special day. But with other girls that he's spending time with, would he even consider her? Although he doesn't realize it yet, Yuta and Hina once knew each other a long time ago. A certain doll seems to bring back memories to him of a girl that he gave one to when he was little.

This is an OAV series based on part 4 of an ongoing love simulation game created by Enterbrain Inc./GameCRAB and produced by KSS. So far, two out of the three episodes have been released, with the last DVD containing episode 3 being released later this month in Japan. Although I'm not too keen on the character designs for this series, I'm always up to seeing a bishoujo series with a nice romance storyline. For additional info, there is a short article in Newtype USA (Dec. 2003 issue pg. 144) Currently available on fansubs by the group Wannabe-Fansubs.
