Quick update since I'm watching the Academy Awards. Chapters 1 - 6 (Vol. 1) of Mahou Sensei Negima/ Magister Negi Magi have been removed from the site. Release date for Volume 1 is still Apr. 27 and will be in its original version, no alterations. Next chapter (Chapt. 31) I will post tomorrow along with the anime recommendation and more Negima related stuff.

Negima US Vol. 1 release update - it looks like after initial reactions, especially by Akamatsu himself, to the decision to censor the US release, Del Rey has already reversed it. Therefore, Vol. 1 of Negima! Magister Negi Magi will be released on schedule on Apr. 27 with no alterations whatsoever to the content. It will be in stores shrink wrapped and will carry the 16+ age rating with explicit content warning. News was just posted yesterday on animeondvd.com. I'll definitely be ready to pick up this title less than two months from now at my local Borders bookstore. Speaking of which, chapters 1 to 6 (Vol. 1) on this site will be removed tomorrow night at the next update.

US release of Negima being sensored!? - apparently, word has it that the US release of Negima! Magister Negi Magi will be sensored by Del Rey who is releasing the series. This was discovered by a frequent visitor to Ken Akamatsu's ailove.net site, and he is not happy. Here's the link to the thread on Animeondvd.com:

Personally, I think this is really stupid that they're censoring it. If this were Tokyopop, this wouldn't be an issue as Love Hina and Ai Yori Aoshi were left as they were. And as we know everyone, this is what those little age ratings things are for, right? I'll be definitely posting my opinion on that thread.

Added US Vol. 2 cover for Mahou Sensei Negima in Media Lists section. Vol. 3 has been announced by Del Rey for an approximate release of Nov. 2004.

A special thanks for a little Love Hina pic sent by Shadow Knight. Added to Pictures section.

Rumor has it that a OVA for Mahou Sensei Negima/Magister Negi Magi is currently in production and will be released in April 2004. I'm interested to find an actual source that confirms this. If anyone knows where I can find this info, please let me know.

Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 30 now available for download. After finding out the truth about Setsuna, Negi and Setsuna hear a scream from the girls' rooms. Negi's students are under attack by...monkeys?! Why are they after Konoka? And what's Setsuna's connection with Konoka anyways?

Special Download - Asuna Character soundtrack. From the first Mahou Sensei Negima/Magister Negi Magi OST, available for download is the single Itsudatte Love and Dream as promised. I will try to keep it on the site as long as possible, since I'm running low on web space.

Reminder: You have one week to finish downloading the first 6 chapters. They will be removed on Feb. 29 (8 pm EST), approximately when I'll do the update.

Feb. 20, 2004

Early notice: Due to amount of web disk space remaining, the first 6 chapters of Mahou Sensei Negima, which correlate to Vol. 1 of the US release will be removed at the end of this month. You have until the update on Feb. 29 (8:00 pm EST) if you haven't downloaded the first chapters yet. I hope for those of you who've kept up so far really like the series, and that in April you'll pick up the 1st volume at your manga retailer.

Update as per usual on Sunday. Have a nice weekend!

Feb. 17, 2004

Media Lists section - added temporary Vol. 4 manga cover and the Konoka card in the second OST that will be released in Japan next week. Like the Asuna first OST, the Konoka card is a bonus packaged with the CD.

I managed to get the Asuna character maxi single tracks with the song Itsudatte Love and Dream. I will try to upload the mp3 this weekend.

Downloads section - I recently noticed that I'm running out of room on my web disk space. Since Vol. 1of Negima will be released in 2 months, more than likely I will be removing the first 6 chapters from the downloads section at the end of this month. I will keep you posted.

Feb. 15, 2004

Media Lists section - added Vol. 3 cover and updated the Asuna card. Thanks to Kevin for the scan and the info on the OST. Apparently, there is an soundtrack for MSN of about 5 tracks that includes the Asuna card as a bonus packaged with it. I will try to upload the songs if I can either get a hold of the CD and/or the tracks themselves.

Downloads Section - reorganized the chapters into the appropriate TPB volumes and renamed some of the chapter files. Please inform me if links are incorrect.

Mahou Sensei Negima - Negi and his students have finally arrived in Kyoto. While everyone is taking in the sights and attractions of the city, Kamo advises Negi to keep his guard up, especially with Setsuna Sakurazaki, suspecting that she's a spy.

No anime recommendation for this week. Will be added next week.

Feb. 14, 2004 - Happy Valentine's Day!!

Special Wallpaper for visitors of both the Love Hina and Sister Princess areas of my site:

Update will be posted tomorrow as well.

A.I. Love You - Vol. 1 was just released this week. I've read it and so far it's pretty good. It takes me back a little bit of when I first got into the anime with my first series Oh My Goddess as the story structure for A.I. Love You has some similarities to it. Definitely pick this up if you're interested to see some of Ken Akamatsu's early drawing styles and his inspiration for the characters of Love Hina, especially Saati (a.k.a Thirty) who became part of the basis for Naru.

Mahou Sensei Negima -the day of the class trip has finally arrived. Negi is very excited about going to Kyoto and Nara for a few days. Let's not forget that he has a task of delivering the letter, and he needs to stay on guard for anyone that might try to cause problems. The girls are excited as well and board the train that will first stop in Osaka. On board, some of the girls are passing time playing a TCG (Magic the Gathering anyone?). Unfortunately, the train ride won't be a relaxing one the entire way.

This week's recommendation is a short 6 episode series featured in Shounen Ace magazine.

New Anime Recommendation: Guardian Hearts

Story: Hina is a member of the intergalactic organization known as Guardian Hearts. Her mission is to monitor and maintain the peace of Earth, while keeping her identity a secret. Unfortunately, she immediately fails one of her objectives when high school student Kazuya sees her change forms when arriving on Earth. She suggests that they live together so that they can keep her identity a secret. Kazuya who is caught off guard by the idea has no choice when his mother gladly invites her to stay. Kurusu, Chelsea, and Maya are among some of the other girls living in his house who each have alternate identities and special powers of their own. Craziness ensues as Kurusu, Chelsea, and Maya are out for revenge against Guardian Hearts, although they are unaware that Hina is actually a member of Guardian Hearts, not to mention competing for Kazuya himself.

Guardian Hearts was a DVD exclusive 6 episode series that was released in late 2003 and is featured in Shounen Ace magazine. A few fansub groups have done this series, including Miyuki-Fansubs, who have completed subbing all 6 episodes. This series definitely is very heavy with the fanservice, with the girls being naked...a lot, or wearing very suggestive outfits. Nevertheless, the series has its own mix of comedy and action, not to mention cute girls, that make it a fun short series without any extensive storyline involved.

Feb. 8, 2004

Due to a paper that's due tomorrow, I will get the update done tomorrow night along with the next chapter of Mahou Sensei Negima. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

Feb. 1, 2004

Mahou Sensei Negima - meet Mahora Academy's cheerleading trio Shiina Sakurako, Kakizai Misa, and Kugimiya Madoka. Not only do they have a lot of spirit, but love to shop. While doing some shopping in preparation for the class trip, they spot Konoka and Negi out together. Could this be a date? Whatever it is, our cheerleading trio intend get to the bottom of this. Of course, not until Asuna and Ayaka the class president get involved as well.

This week's recommendation is a series that also has been prominently been featured in Dengeki G's magazine and has proven to be both a popular game and anime series

New Anime Recommendation: Pia Carrot

Info: The premise behind the games and anime versions of Pia Carrot are a theme restaurant that has beautiful girls as waitresses with sexy uniforms, with the player or male protaganist as one of the few waiters that work at the theme restaurant. The games themselves are structured similarly to many of the popular dating sim games available in Japan. As for the anime, the series was created in two versions: one being Pia Carrot and Pia Carrot 2, which were the hentai versions, with the male protaganist usually ending up in bed with each of the cute waitresses. The other version being Pia Carrot 2DX, a retelling of the original Pia Carrot 2, with most of the same characters plus a few new ones, including a minor character from the original first series. This version has a different storyline and does not contain any sex scenes. Finally, a Pia Carrot movie called Sayaka's Love Story was released in Japan in 2003, which featured an entirely new cast and a new location, with the story focused on Sayaka and her feelings about a boy she likes that worked with her until she transferred out to the new restaurant for the summer season. The hentai versions of Pia Carrot are available on DVD in the US by the company known as NuTech Digital. Pia Carrot 2DX and Sayaka's Love Story have not been licensed and are still available on fansubs.

Although I usually steer clear of hentai titles, this is one of few series that has a nice romance story that goes with it. Even with the sex scenes, it seems to integrate into the overall story pretty well, as they're usually nice moments with the male character and the girl that he's with. The less sexually explicit 2 DX and Sayaka Love Story movie are what really bring out the romantic charm of the series. In fact, if you're looking for a nice short bishoujo romance series, watch the these two parts of the series, as you can just skip the original two hentai versions, and not miss very much back story, except for an appearance of one character in 2DX that is the little sister of Yusuke from the first Pia Carrot series, who is now grown up. If you decide to try out this series, keep an eye out for a reference in the movie to two characters in 2 DX.
