Some very good stuff for release today. First up is a
little X-mas present for you guys.
Itsudatte My Santa - special release.
Courtesy of akatsuki-manga is a one-shot project of Ken Akamatsu's before
he did Love Hina. A little story about a boy named Santa who is alone
on Christmas Eve who happens to meet a girl name Mai/Santa Claus. A cute
Santa girl in a miniskirt who comes to him to give him a little luck.
One night with her turns out to be the greatest gift anyone has ever given
him.
- Itsudatte My Santa - Special Release
Mahou Sensei Negima - double chapter
release. Since I'll be at home away from my computer for a few weeks,
I can at least give you guys two chapters for your reading pleasure. Also,
so you don't have to wait for 2-3 weeks to find out what happens since
this is a two-parter.
It seems like just another day at Mahora Academy for
Negi and his students. To Negi's surprise, Evangeline actually came to
class for once. Maybe Evangeline has decide to make a change for herself?
News has it Mahora Academy twice a year initiates a blackout lockdown
for power maintenance purposes. However, Evangeline seems to have figured
out a connection to this and her powers being sealed. Amidst the blackout,
Makie appears before Negi with a message that Evangeline has once again
issued a challenge for a duel. He refuses to get Asuna and his students
involved in this again, and decides to face this challenge alone. Arriving
at the site, Negi seems to be outnumbered 6 to 1 as Evangeline's servants
descend upon him...
Itsudatte My Santa I will keep on the site until I return
in Jan. Grab it while you have a chance.
Mao-chan Vol. 2 - Go! Unified Defense Force!
- this was scheduled to be released this week on 12/16, although some
online retailers have now placed 1/6/04 as the new release date. Not sure
exactly if it has been delayed. Let's hope that's an error and local anime
retailers will stick with the original release date.
This week's recommendation is another bishoujo series
about two prep schools merging into a coed institution, with boys versus
girls, and a destined romance that one girls longs for.
- New Anime Recommendation:
Green Green
- Story: Get ready for a battle of
the sexes. Deep in the mountains, the boys academy Hane No Oto has just
learned that a girls academy is coming to attend classes to evaluate
the environment for a possible merge to a coed school. Immediately,
the guys begin to get really excited, especially a group of 4 friends,
Bachigoo, Ichibanse, Tenjin, and Yuusuke. Yuusuke out of the four tries
to keep himself out of trouble, although he seems to get dragged into
their perverted schemes. The girls arrive to the campus. Immediately,
one of them, Midori jumps Yuusuke and happily greets him. He doesn't
seem to know who she is, but apparently she has been looking forward
to meeting him for quite some time as though there's a link between
them.
This series has been featured in G's magazine and
originally was animated into a one shot OVA, in which the situation
was reversed, where the four guys visited the girls' academy and ended
up earning a bad reputation except for Yuusuke, who seemed to hit
things off well with Midori. The TV series itself consists of 12 episodes.
A pretty funny series with some cute girls, lots of fanservice. The
only downside is the amount of perversion that's present in Yuusuke's
3 idiot classmates. Sometimes funny, but gets a bit excessive. The
romance aspect makes up for it though. I have yet to finish this series,
as the burning question is what the relation is between Yuusuke and
Midori.

Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 22 now
available. My apologies for the delay since I was sick over the weekend.
Feeling more confident about himself and his skills now, Negi decides
that he's ready to challenge Evangeline again. Unfortunately, it's seems
that she's absent from class yet again. Negi decides to pay her a little
visit. This also gives him a chance to find out about the curse that was
placed on her by the Thousand Spells mage, Negi's father.
On the subject of magic, this week's recommendation is
a romance comedy about a guy and his life involving his inherent powers
of magic:
- New Anime Recommendation:
Maburaho
- Story: Kazuki Shikimori attends Aoi
Academy, a school for the elite students of magic. However, as a student,
he is considered below average and girls won't even look at him. What
he doesn't know is that he actually is a descendent of several merging
generations of some of the most powerful magicians of history. Therefore,
the power of the greatest magicians is deep inside of him. One day,
a beautiful girl named Yuuna Miyama walks into his life. However, this
is not the first time he's ever met her. In fact, one day many years
ago, Kazuki used his magic in order to cheer her up and apparently made
a promise that someday they would become husband and wife. She has now
come to him to fulfill that promise. This adds to the fact that all
of the sudden, girls are after his genes, including the sexy Kuriko
Kazetsubaki and the sword-wielding Rin Kamishiro, guys are jealous of
Kazuki for having Yuuna as his girlfriend/wife, and finally one downfall
of his inherent gift...he can only use his magic up to 8 times. After
that, he will disintegrate into dust.
Being a big fan of romance and bishoujo series, I
already had a feeling even before the first episode that this would
be a good series. And indeed it is. Produced by J.C. Staff, it has
somewhat of an Ai Yori Aoshi look to it. Part of the staff of this
series includes some of the people that brought us Hand Maid May,
G-on Riders, Popotan, and Cosplay Complex. From what I've seen so
far, Maburaho is a very charming comedy/romance series. Whether it
be all of Kazuki's classmates blowing up the school with magic fights
and summoned beasts, trying to survive Rin's sword (related to Motoko
perhaps? ), or saving the day with his few opportunities to use magic,
it's very amusing to see how Kazuki's world all of the sudden gets
turned upside down. At the same time, it's nice to see the moments
that Yuuna and Kazuki have together, since they are the "destined
couple" of the series. So far, up to 9 episodes out of 24 have
been released so far. A few fansub groups are subbing this, including
Sugar-Cube and Anime-Keep.

Mahou Sensei Negima/Magister Negi Magi -
covers added in Media Lists section for Japanese volumes
1 and 2. Look for some familiar faces on the back covers of each volume.
Nov. 30, 2003
Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 21 now
available. After backing down from battling each other, Chachamaru and
Negi haven't been themselves lately. According to Kamo, this leaves Negi
in a bad situation, with the possibility of the rest of the girls becoming
involved. Not knowing what to do, Negi flies away and ends up crash landing
in the mountains, where he runs into Hayase, another of his students who
happens to be trained in the ways of the ninja. Perhaps spending some
time training with Hayase will help.
I will do the anime recommendation column next week since
I'll be working on some extensive updates on the Sister Princess site.

Review delay again - instead of finishing
my English dub review of Mao-chan Vol. 1 this week, I ended up writing
a review for Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie 2: The Sealed Card first. If
you would like to read the review, go to the Animyu link below. Eventually,
the Mao-chan DVD review will be posted.
This will be added to the Links section
when it is opened.
Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 20 is
now up for your downloading and reading pleasure. Negi's friend Kamo has
been causing a little trouble for the girls, although he is still intent
on helping Negi to find a partner. Still a little edgy about Evangeline,
Kamo suggests that Negi and Asuna form a provisional contract so that
they can take on Evangeline and Chachamaru. An opportunity presents itself
for the duo to take down Chachamaru, but does Negi have it in himself
to do so?
This week's recommendation is the follow up TV series
to the popular spy action OAV about a girl using paper as her weapon.
- New Anime Recommendation:
R.O.D the TV
- Story: Nene Sumiregawa is a famous
author who recently has had a number of threats directed towards her.
Her bodyguards hired for protection in a book promotion in Hong Kong
are three sisters, Maggie, Michelle, and Anita, the Three Sisters Detective
Agency. What Nene doesn't know about these three are that besides being
book fanatics, they have the ability to use paper as weapons and in
any situation where they're in a pinch. When discovering this fact,
she realizes that there's someone that she admires that has that exact
same ability...
Read or Die was a short 3 episode OAV series about
Yomiko Readman, also known as "The Paper", who had the ability
to use paper or paper based items as weapons, to create gigantic paper
airplanes, or just about any solid object she needed in a pinch. No
James Bond type gadgets needed. In the OAV, she helped to defend the
world against the Ejin, an elite group of recreated geniuses and legendary
literary figures bent on ruling the world by eliminating those inferior
to them, through a race to retrieve a musical manuscript contained
in a rare book. The TV series takes place a few years after this incident.
Yomiko Readman hasn't been spotted for a few years now, but she is
still well known throughout the world to this day. Although the three
sisters have never seen or met Yomiko Readman, she is prevalent in
the TV series as a legend. In fact, Nene who is an admirer of hers,
is always looking for her, hoping to see her again someday. Meanwhile,
the sisters adapt to a new life living with Nene in Japan, while also
taking on assignments to retrieve rare stolen books.

Mao-chan Vol. 1 -slowly getting caught
up on backlog, the English dub review should be posted within a day or
two.
Mahou Sensei Negima - a quick reminder
to everyone about the release of this series in the US. Some people have
asked me about it being licensed and if I will continue to distribute
the chapters. Although we have a rule to not distribute licensed anime
and manga that is being released or will be released, as I mentioned before,
I will keep the links up to download chapters until 30 days prior to the
release of the first volume, at which time, I will gradually begin removing
chapters from the server. Now, let's get to our next chapter:
It looks like the uninvited pool party guest turned out
to be an ermine who is actually an old friend of Negi's. Albel Kamomille
has come with the duty of aiding Negi in his search for a partner, although
something seems suspicious. Is he really here to help Negi or does he
have his own motives for coming to him?
It looks like we now have an animal mascot for this series.
Like the adorable turtle Tama for Love Hina, we get Kamo, a talking ermine
(I guess they're similar to ferrets) that's a chick magnet, but apparently
an underwear thief as well.
Nov. 9, 2003
Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 18 is
now available for download. After the incident with Evanjeline, Negi hasn't
been himself lately. Remembering the issue of Negi finding a partner,
the girls have a plan to perk him up, although they weren't exactly planning
for an unexpected guest. Also included with this chapter was a popularity
poll for the girls of Mahou Sensei Negima, along with a few color pages
showcasing Ken Akamatsu's characters from Mao-chan, Love Hina, and Mahou
Sensei Negima.
Mao-chan Vol. 1 - added episode titles
to Vol. 1 listing in Media List section. Will probably have English dub
review up later this week.
This week's recommendation is a romance drama based on
an adult video game.
- New Anime Recommendation:
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien
- Story: Narumi Takayuki is a high
school student preparing for college next year, though he doesn't seem
to be putting much effort into it. He has his friends Shinji and Mitsuki,
that he hangs out with. Things change when one day, Mitsuki's friend
Haruka comes into their lives. Haruka really likes Narumi, so Mitsuki
hopes to get them together. Although Narumi and Haruka's relationship
starts off rocky and uncertain, it develops into something wonderful
for them. However, a fateful event will change everything, as love and
friendship will be put to the test of time for this circle of friends.
First of all, I have to thank my friends and fellow
anime fans of animegamer for recommending this new title for me. At
first, I didn't know what to expect until watching the first two episodes.
This has been described as a Kimagure Orange Road like story, a series
I have yet to see, but have been told is a classic. A definite change
from the romance comedy that I've been watching lately to something
very serious and emotional. This has been planned for a total of 14
episodes, 5 of which have been released so far. I highly recommend
this series for how well the story is written, and that it really
keeps your attention, as you wonder if things can ever go back to
the way they used to be for them.
Nov. 2, 2003
Mao-chan Vol. 1 - the first DVD of 7
episodes was released this week. I will add the episode list to the Media
List section later this week, as well as post a review link for the English
dub.
Mahou Sensei Negima - chapter 17 is
available for download. Negi manages to save Nodoka and comes face to
face with the attacker, Evanjeline A. K. McDowell, a mage just like him.
After chasing her down, he is forced to fight against both her and her
partner, Chachamaru Karakuri. It turns out that Evanjeline is a vampire
as well who has had a curse placed on her, and the only way to break it
is with Negi's blood. Can Negi defeat her or will he end up as her next
victim?
For this week's recommendation is the next season in
a popular anime series that just completed its first season release on
DVD in the US:
- New Anime Recommendation:
Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~
- Story: Two years have passed since
fate had brought Aoi and Kaoru together. Although Aoi's parents have
somewhat accepted their relationship, they still must keep it a secret
as they continue to live in the Sakuraba mansion with Miyabi, Taeko,
Tina, and their new tenant Chika. More craziness and fun are in store
for all of them, as Aoi and Kaoru's relationship continues to blossom.
But what will ultimately become of our two lovebirds?
Everyone from the first season of Ai Yori Aoshi is
back. When the final DVD of Season 1 was released in the US, it was
already announced that Season 2 would be coming early next year, even
though it just began broadcasting in Japan only a month ago. This
season of the series introduces two new characters, Natsuki Komiya
and Chizuru Aizawa, classmates and good friends of Chika. Since only
a few episodes have been released, it'll be interesting to see the
direction that the story takes. The burning question of how all of
them feel about Kaoru, having friends over, and hidden tennis talents
are just the start of this season, and I look forward to seeing more
of it. Season 2 will consist of about 12 episodes. As a little teaser
before it, J.C. Staff did a Christmas episode, Episode 0, that was
a promotional DVD. This was meant to be a type of prologue episode,
with Kaoru meeting Santa, who looks just like Aoi-chan. Both episode
0 and Enishi are being picked up by fansub groups such as #ani-kraze
and #animeone, so you do have a chance to to download the eps.
Oct. 26, 2003
Manga Guide section - dipping into my
backlog of stuff that I've put off for a long time, I've finally added
the covers to the Tokyopop US release of the Love Hina manga. Manga Guide/Story
is now open. Hopefully, I'll find some time in the near future to actually
add the summaries.
Mahou Sensei Negima - this week's release
as a special thanks to frequent visitors of the site is a double release.
Available for download this week is both chapters 15 and 16.
Negi receives a visual letter from his sister, Arcane
Springfield, and brings up the subject of a mage's "partner",
usually a member of the opposite sex. Konoka and Asuna interpret this
as a girlfriend in his case. Craziness ensues when Nodoka blurts this
out to the entire class in the dorm, and all of Negi's students chase
him, hoping to get him for themselves. After escaping from the girls trying
to catch him, he ends up hiding somewhere on the campus. Unfortunately,
a girl dressed in a yukata saw him as he was landing. Wait a minute! Is
that Konoka?
Recently, students of Mahora Academy have been getting
attacked in Sakura Lane, including poor Makie. As the new term begins,
Negi notices a student he hasn't met before, Evanjeline A.K. McDowell.
Why is she glaring at him? Are there really such things as vampires that
people have been talking about lately? This is something that Negi intends
to get to the bottom of in order to protect his students.
For this week's recommendation is a cute little bishoujo
series that was based on a dating sim as well
- New Anime Recommendation:
To Heart
- Story: Many years ago on a rainy
day, a little girl named Akari has an accident of sorts, dropping all
of her books which get soaked by the rain. A boy named Hiroyuki helps
her out by giving her his books, an act of kindness that has made them
friends ever since. She has never forgotten this, even now since both
Akari and Hiroyuki are classmates in high school. Although Hiroyuki
is somewhat of an apathetic person, he seems to easily make friends
with female students in their class that are either looked down upon
or are just trying their hardest to overcome their own problems that
they face. Even with the new friends that Akari, Hiroyuki, Masashi,
and Shiho will make and the experiences that they share with them, nothing
compares to the memory of that one day that Akari will always keep close
to her heart.
This series was originally broadcast in 1999, produced
by KSS/Aquaplus, and consists of 13 episodes. Based on a dating sim,
people have compared this series to the title I recommended earlier
called Kanon, although the overall story is much less depressing and
instead leaves you with a good, happy feeling. I personally liked
the overall animation style, especially with the backgrounds, as you
can tell that this is an older show with the rougher drawing style.
The opening, ending, and even the preview music which is just a different
version of the opening imparts the drama and romance tone, but in
a warm, feel-good sense. Even after finishing this series a few months
back, the opening theme still sticks in my head, just because it's
such a nice song to listen to. As of current, this series has not
been licensed for US release. You may have a difficult time finding
some of the episodes on fansubs, as some fansub groups have yet to
finish this series. The only group that has successfully completed
the series named Sachi-Gumi seems to be very difficult to get the
episodes from since they don't have an IRC chan and have limited distribution
methods. Best bet is the fansub group #bishoujo-fansubs or asking
around on anime IRC chans.
- Series notes: Some notable VAs
- Ayako Kawasumi as Akari (Aoi Sakuraba - Ai Yori
Aoshi, Mahoro Ando- Mahoromatic, Kaori Misaka - Kanon,
Chikage - Sister Princess)
- Yui Horie as Multi (Naru Narusegawa - Love Hina,
Kotori - Da Capo, Sylvia - Mao Chan, Ayu - Kanon,
Sakuya - Sister Princess)
- Souichirou Hoshi as Masashi (Kaoru Hanabishi - Ai
Yori Aoshi)
- Junko Iwao as Serikia (Tomoyo - Cardcaptor Sakura)
Oct. 19, 2003
14th Hour - Mahou Sensei Negima - a
dream of several years ago shows us a young Asuna and the class president
Ayaka. Ever since they were little, they've had a sort of rivalry/hate
tension between them.
It's Spring Break and Ayaka receives a message that Negi
is stopping by to visit, which puts her in a cheerful mood. But why did
Asuna decide to come along for the visit?
Note: This was the title translated from a fellow anime
fan who has read most of the chapters released so far in Japan. From reading
the chapter, I think that this title suits this chapter more appropriately.
This week's recommendation is a comedy series that has
gained a lot of popularity in both the anime and manga communities.
- New Anime Recommendation:
Azumanga Daioh
- Story: A day in the life of a group
of high school students is anything but ordinary. From off the wall
teachers to unpredictable cats, a 10 year old girl genius that's still
a little kid at heart plus a ditsy girl from Osaka, and many crazy experiences
year round, life is never dull for this group of friends.
If you're looking for a little bit of comedy to throw
into your anime and manga lists, this is definitely a series to look
into. It's very unpredictable and has some cultural gags which catch
you by surprise. More than likely you'll be laughing your ass off
at least a few times. This is one of the few series that you can't
go wrong with either the anime or manga, as both of them are very
similar. Although there are minor differences in which short stories/scenes
are in each version, both the anime and manga deliver with the laughs.
Both have been licensed for release in the US by ADV Films/Manga.
The first volume of the manga is currently available in bookstores
with volume 2 hitting shelves in Dec. The anime series will begin
release onto DVD in early 2004.
- Oct. 13, 2003
13th Hour - Mahou Sensei Negima - with
all of the excitement of exams and such, Negi has never had a proper tour
of the Mahora Academy. Leave this to the Narutaki twins Fuuka and Fumika
of the Walking Club to give Negi a guided tour, although to certain areas
of the campus he wasn't expecting to visit, including a certain tree that
has a legend to it.
And for this week's recommendation is Ken Akamatsu's
most recent anime series, which will be arriving at the end of this month
in stores with the first 7 episodes on DVD, courtesy of Geneon Entertainment
(Pioneer Ent.)
- New Anime Recommendation:
Ground Defense Force Mao-chan (Mao-chan)
- Story: Earth, or rather Japan, is
under attack by...cute aliens?! Apparently they are out to steal famous
landmarks of Japan. It's up to Mao, Misora, and Sylvia, three cute grade
school girls recruited by their grandfathers who are the Defense commanders
of Sky, Land, and Sea in order to stop these cute aliens. Unfortunately,
their assigned missions don't always go as smoothly as expected, even
with a triad weapon known as the Defense Force Barrier at their disposal.
This was one of the first series I had a chance
to watch on fansubs. Cute and amusing. One of the more fun series
to watch, with characters definitely resembling Love Hina. In fact,
Love Hina characters actually make an appearance in a few episodes
of the series, including an episode about a certain "hot springs
resort" that ensures people to get into Tokyo U that they visit.
26 episodes with the first volume of 7 hitting store shelves later
this month on DVD. It has been described as somewhat of a schoolgirls
version of Power Rangers. Add a tank, a submarine, and a fighter
jet with personalities, and you have a nice "cute" series
that will make you laugh. Even if you don't, it's a bonus for fans
of Love Hina to see that although that series is over, it's a series
that defnitely has not been forgotten.
Oct. 9, 2003
Mao-chan DVD covers- added
covers to DVD Vol. 1 and 2 to Media Lists section. Mao-chan Vol. 1 is
due out on 10/28. Watch for a cameo by everyone's favorite Love Hina turtle
in the first few eps.
Oct. 8, 2003
12th Hour - Mahou Sensei Negima -here's
the next chapter that you've all been waiting for. Having earned the top
grades for the term, Negi has been inducted as a full time professor and
will be teaching 3-A which all of his students will be advancing to for
next term. This calls for a celebration as everyone seems thrilled about
their victory and having Negi as their teacher again, except for student
#25, Chisame Hasegawa (look like a certain character you know?), who seems
to have a certain secret that no one knows about, until Negi accidentally
finds out.
A.I. Love You Vol. 1 Cover - due to
be released on 2/4/2004 is Ken Akamatsu's manga series that he created
before Love Hina being distributed by Tokyopop again that will span 9
volumes. Added cover of Vol. 1 to the Media Lists section.
Oct. 5, 2003
12th Hour later this week -I
will post the next chapter of Mahous Sensei Negima later in the week,
due to work being done on my Sister Princess site. Check it out in the
Anime Section if you haven't done so already. For now, this week's recommendation:
- New Anime Recommendation:
Onegai Twins
- Story: Maiku Kamishiro has been living
in a house by the lake where the incidents of the UFO had occurred (Mizuho
Kazami's arrival). His only memory of his past with whatever family
he had is a picture of him and a girl who is his twin sister in a photo
that was taken outside of the house that he lives in. The events of
the UFO catch the attention of two girls, Mina and Karen who happen
to have the same picture as well, and so they travel to the town to
find out about their past and if they're related or not. "We could
be related, or could we be strangers?..." That is the question
that these three will hope find the answer to
In case you haven't figured out already, this is
the follow up to the series Onegai Teacher. This series introduces
three new main characters, Maiku, Mina, and Karen with the story
being these three trying to figure out their past and who they are.
Characters from the first series Mizuho Kazami, Marie, Ichigo Morino,
Matagu Shidoh, and Kei Kusanagi make a return appearance, with Mizuho
and Ichigo taking the spotlight for minor characters along with
three classmates of Maiku that make his life very complex, especially
with the arrival of Mina and Karen. So far, 11 out of 13 episodes
have been broadcast in Japan and have been released on fansubs,
and there have been mixed opinions about the series from reviews
that I've read. But I recommend it for the fact that it keeps a
good number of characters from the first series. And even though
the main story itself sometimes gets lost in the middle of the series,
certain events definitely have you ponder possibilities, since now
I'm anxious to find out what the relation between these three are.
Sept. 28, 2003
New chapter - Mahou Sensei Negima -
chapter 11 is now available for download. Although having escaped from
the Island Library, it's time for final exams. Negi's fate as a teacher
now rests with his students, including Asuna and the Baka Rangers. A morning
session of final exams begins with the Island Library team starting late.
Soon after, the results are in...Good luck Negi and class 2-A!! Here's
the file:
And now, for this week's recommendation:
- New Anime Recommendation:
Hanaukyo Maid Team
- Story: 13 year old Taro Hanaukyo's
mother recently passed away. He's off to Tokyo to go live with his grandfather
who to his surprise lives in a giant estate and mansion. But instead
of being greeted by his grandfather, he is met by his loyal staff of
many beautiful maids who give him a "passionate" welcome.
Things quickly become a bit overwhelming as he finds out he's their
new master, and that his grandfather left everything to him, including
the staff of maids at his command. Even more difficult is the fact that
he seems to have an allergic reaction to girls in general, except to
one named Mariel. Beautiful, kind, and gentle, she is the only one that
can truly reach his heart, as he adapts to his new life around him.
This series has actually been around for quite
awhile, but has yet to see a US release, although I wouldn't be
surprised of it being licensed soon were a possibility, as the manga
version being distributed by I.C. Entertainment is already being
released in the US. Rumors say that Pioneer is already in the production
phase of a follow up new season to this series. This is in contrast
to this first series which was produced by Master of Entertainment
in Japan. Running 12 regular plus 3 character focused additional
episodes, Hanaukyo Maid Team has had a quite a following with fans
of Oh! My Goddess and Love Hina, since some of the maids especially
can be compared to characters from both of these series. A fun little
comedy with a hint of romance, and lots of fanservice (I'm sure
you saw that one coming), it has moments that will definitely make
you laugh (when you're not staring at the maids), especially with
the problems on a daily basis that little Taro deals with.
Notes: VA - Rie Tanaka (Mariel) - also voice of
Chii (Chobits), Morganna (.hack//Sign), Saki (Steel Angel Kurumi),
and Koyomi (Azumanga Daioh).
Sept. 24, 2003
Links moved - I have created
a new area specifically for Downloads to avoid confusion
in trying to find either the AMV or the Mahou Sensei Negima chapter. I
should have another chapter up by this weekend for those of you anxious
to read on. New chapters posted will have links in both Downloads and
this page. According to Del Rey, the US release will be titled as Negima,
and is tentatively schedule for Vol. 1 release sometime in April of 2004.
Sept. 22, 2003
New chapter - Mahou Sensei Negima -
chapter 10 is now available. After having fallen down to the lowest level
of the library and Maki being held captive by the golem, will Negi and
his students make it out alive and in time to take the exam? And what
about the legendary book?
The Media Lists section is now open and for now I will
be placing the links for the chapters of Mahou Sensei Negima in this area
for anyone who hasn't had a chance to download yet.
- New Anime Recommendation:
Kanon
- Story: Yuiichi Aizawa returns to
a snowy town he once remembered several years ago to live with his cousin
Nayuki. Shortly after, he runs into a girl who looks strangely familiar
named Ayu. As he begins to settle into his life in this town, memories
long forgotten will begin to unravel and his past will slowly come together,
with someone who was always waiting for him.
This series was originally a dating sim
type video game (a hentai one at that) and was made into an anime
series about a year and a half ago. This series falls under the romance
drama category. Just to warn you ahead of time, at about halfway through
the series, you might want to have a box of tissues ready, as the
stories of many of the girls in this series are very sad and definitely
tug at the heart strings. There are a total of 13 episodes plus a
special follow up episode. A manga version is currently available
by some fansub groups. With the extremely serious tone of the series,
it may take awhile before it is licensed for US release. You can currently
find Kanon available on fansubs.

Mahou Sensei Negima - new
chapters are now available. To make up for the delay, here are two more
chapters which continue the island library arc, an adventure in itself
which brings Negi and his students up against a Twister like spelling
puzzle. Without further ado, here are the links:
Also, for this week's series recommendation is one of
my personal favorites:
New Anime Recommendation: Sister Princess
Story: This is the story of 12 cute
sisters who love their brother very much. His life will change completely
when he meets all of them for the first time.
Meet Wataru Minakami. His dream was to become one of the elite along with
his friend Akio when they would go to high school together. That is, until
he finds out that he failed the entrance exam, which ruins their plan.
Shortly thereafter, he finds out that he's been admitted to a different
school on Promised Island, and is promptly sent off to the dock that will
take him there. There he meets Yamada and Mami, who will be attending
the school on the island with him. Upon arrival, after almost drowning
from falling into the ocean, he is saved by a girl calling him onii-chan.
Eventually, certain events lead him to his new home at Welcome House,
where he meets 4 of his sisters, including Karen, who saved him earlier,
and one by one, will meet all 12 of them. This is the story of Karen,
Sakuya, Kaho, Hinako, Haruka, Chikage, Mamoru, Marie, Yotsuba, Rinrin,
Shirayuki, and Aria who will change his life completely, as he fulfills
a promise of long ago that he made with a girl who is watching over him...
Side Notes: Originally serialized in G's Magazine
in Japan, this series has appeared as a Playstation, Dreamcast, and
GBA game. Many of the voice actors of Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi, and
Mahoromatic play voices of some of the sisters in this series. Yui
Horie (Naru) plays Sakuya, Ayako Kawasumi(Aoi Sakuraba/Mahoro) is
Chikage, Natsuki Kuwatani (Kanako) is Karen, and Yumiko Kobayashi
(Sarah) is Mamoru.
This series has already been licensed for US release
by ADV Films for a release in early 2004. I am currently building
the web site I had mentioned in previous updates that you can find
in the Anime Section, if you would like further information about
this series. I had previously written a review for this series that
you may find over at animyu.com. Here is the link:

Love Hina Again and Love Hina Vol. 14 manga have been
released, thus ending the US release of both the anime and manga series
in the US. Bandai however has one more Love Hina release, which will
be the Movies boxset. Discussions on animeondvd.com are underway for
Bandai Ent. to possiblly release the boxset separately for those who
have already purchased the X-mas, Spring, and LHA discs along with a
possible extra being considered.

I apologize for not having uploaded chapter 8 of Mahou
Sensei Negima since my internship has kept me busy. I plan on purchasing
additional web drive space soon in order to upload more chapters and
other goodies, along with my new Sister Princess anime area on the site
opening soon.
Be sure to visit the affiliate sites anihina and animyu
which are run by some good friends of mine for more Love Hina information,
plus reviews and discussion on various anime series.
Starting with this update, I will include for those
of you looking to expand your anime viewing and test drive some series
a short news spot called "New Anime Recommendation"(okay,
not very original, but only temporary until I come up with a better
name). This will usually include new series along the comedy/romance/drama
lines or any series that has generated a lot of buzz in anime discussion
communities. Anyways, let's start this off:
- New Anime Recommendation:
Da Capo
- Story: Juniichi Asaskura has the
ability to see in people's dreams as well as to create sweets with
his magic. On the island of Hatsune where the cherry blossoms always
bloom, he will influence the lives of his sister Nemu, childhood friend
Sakura, school idol Kotori, two sisters Mako and Moe, and others he'll
form close friendships with, even with mysterious and unusual backgrounds
that some of them have.
-
- Side
note: Yui Horie (VA of Naru Narusegawa) is the voice of Kotori in
this new series
-
- Currently available on fansub. Releaesd currently
up to episode #9 as of 9/8/03

Mahou Sensei Negima - 1st chapter of volume 2 now available
for download:
A challenge has been issued to Negi: he will be inducted
as a full time teacher of the academy if his class successfully finishes
the term without coming in last in overall GPA. Easier said than done,
especially with a group of 5 girls, which includes Asuna, known as the
Baka Rangers. And he'll attempt to do this without any help from his
magic.
Although the US release date for Mahou Sensei Negima
has not been officially set as of current, I have decided to establish
the following policy:
- Links/files to the chapter downloads will be removed
30 days prior to the official street date set by Del Rey/Random House
in order to respect their licensing of the title. This is to allow
for sufficient promotion of this manga series and to encourage those
who like this series to purchase it at their local manga retailer.
Currently, my newest project is another web page for
a new series that I recently finished called Sister Princess.
Keep watching the Anime Section page for more info on this series. Also,
if you're looking for more anime reviews and discussion, don't forget
to check out the links on the left side of the page to affiliate sites
AnimeGamer and Animyu created by some friends of mine and fellow Love
Hina fans.
