ADV Films announces license to Kanon 2006
Confirmed at Anime Weekend Atlanata, ADV Films has annonced the license to the Kyoto Animation remake of Kanon. No details on release schedule available at this time. Note that torrents for AQS's releases of the series have been disabled and removed. Please support ADV Films by purchasing the R1 DVDs as they become available.

ADV Films licenses AIR TV and Movie
Just announced at Anime Matsuri and Kawaii-con today, ADV Films has announced the license to the AIR TV series, Summer Specials, and motion picture. Note that the TV series and specials were produced by Kyoto Animation while AIR the Movie was produced by Toei Animation. First volume of the TV series is set for Aug. 14, 2007 with the series spread across 4 volumes and will be on a monthly release schedule with the movie to be released later this year in the fall.

Kanon TV 2006 - the official air date for Kanon TV 2006 has been announced. It will premiere on Oct. 5 on BS-i. Also, AquaStar Anime is pleased to announced that our fansub team has decided to pick up the series as our next project. We're really excited about it and we hope we'll be able to bring good releases to you. Check our mian site for more info.

AIR TV first anime to Blu-Ray - with the introduction of the new formats of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray comes our very first anime title to go to the Blu-Ray formant, AIR TV. Herre are some of the details behind the release:

Another interesting thing to note is that with the new regional coding systme for Blu-Ray, Region 1 includes North America and Japan, so this works out quite well for those of you who like to import anime from Japan. No region free player or region change needed.

More Kanon TV series info - according to a recent article with the production team of the new Kanon TV series, the remake of Kanon will be 24 episodes total. You can read the translation here:

New Kanon TV series info - a promo video has been released for the upcoming remake of the Kanon TV series that will be broadcast this fall in Japan. The promo video can be downloaded from their website which just went live this week.

Kanon TV series to be remade - from the Tokyo Anime Fair that occurred this past weekend, promotional iteams including postcards were available for the new remake of the Kanon TV series. Animation production will be handled by Kyoto Animation, the studio that did animation for AIR TV, Full Metal Panic, the new series Suzumiya Haruhi, and Tenchi Universe.
No details at this time on when the new TV series is set to be broadcast/released in Japan.

Funimation rumored licenses now official - following up on the rumors of Tsubasa Chronicle by CLAMP being acquired for the US by Funimation Productions, an article in the Feb. issue of Anime Insider has now confirmed this license along with the XXXHolic/Tsubasa Chronicles feature film that was shown in Japan recently.

My pick for this edition of Anime Recommendation is a bishoujo series that recently finished in Japan in this past year, based on the game by NekoNeko Soft:

Story: When Kenji and his sister Suzuka were little kids, after having moved to a quiet seaside town, Kenji one day met a girl on the beach who wore a fish barrette and wanted to play with him. Although he teased her with some hermit crabs that he had caught, they soon found out that they are actually next door neighbors. In fact, their houses were so close together that you could literally reach out to the person on the opposite balcony.
Fast forward to many years later. It is summer school. A daily routine is for either Kenji or Suzuka to jump across to Nanami's room and wake her up in time for school. Because Kenji and Nanami spend so much time together, you would think they were dating each other, or are husband and wife, as many of their friends like to tease them about. With the many summers that Kenji and Nanami have spent together growing up, this one in particular would be a special one for them.
Based on the bishoujo game by NekoNeko Soft, this series is all about cute and innocent romance and also summertime memories. The title of the series Lamune, is actually a wordplay to Ramune, the soft drink in glass bottles that most anime fans are familiar with, and also the English word "lemonade". An appropriate title for this series, since it's fun to watch as the two main characters gradually fall for each other as the story progresses. The setting of the seaside town gives this story a relaxing mood to it, as it's not about heavy drama, but mostly a slice of life summer romance. I think that this title will appeal to a lot of fans of the romance/cute girls type, with its variety of characters, including motorcycle girl Misora, the playful and aggresive Hikari, and Nanami who literally represents the "girl-next-door".

New licensing announcement - just announced yesterday, Viz Media has acquired the license for the US release of the anime version of Full Moon wo Sagashite. Release date for Vol. 1 of the DVD is scheduled for 6/27/06 .

New licensing announcement - coming out of their Prime Animation report, the series Tsukuyomi - Moon Phase has been confrimed by Funimation Productions. Release date is scheduled to be Summer 2006 for the series. Word has it that they also have another confirmed license which will be announced over the weekend at the Anime Vegas convention.

This week's recommendation is a magical girl series that was a spinoff of Triangle Hearts - Sweet Songs Forever
Anime Recommendation: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
Story: Nanoha Takamichi is a normal 3rd grader who comes from a warm, loving family and has wonderful friends. She never expected to take on the role of a magical girl, until one day, Yuuno, an archaelogist from another world discovered the jewel seeds that contained tremendous power. Unable to contain the unstable power that the jewel seeds posessed, he collapsed and hoped that someone somewhere would help him. On her way home from school, Nanoha comes across the injured Yuuno who has now taken the form of a ferret. As the power of the jewel seeds begain to manifest, Yuuno asks for Nanoha's help to capture the jewel seeds using a red stone known as the Raging Heart. Soon she becomes Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. As she takes on the role of a magical girl, she'll face some tough challenges, including another magical girl who is out to collect the jewel seeds for her own reasons, and keeping this entire ordeal a secret.
Although I usually don't think too much of magical girl series (with the exception of Cardcaptor Sakura), this series in particular has it own charm to it, by taking the magical girl scenario and adding a little bit of high tech components to it, as you see in both of the girls' weapons and attack abilities which are executed by AIs present in their respective stones. The theme Innocent Starter is great to listen to as it gives a sense of slight sadness, but also warmth and happiness that is slowly awakening. As mentioned before, this series is actually a spinoff of another Ivory series known as Triangle Hearts - Sweet Songs Forever, in which two of the main characters in that series are also Nanoha's older siblings in this one. This show is great for people who are into the magical girl genre of anime, and the good news is that this 13 episode series proved popular enough that a second season Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's will broadcst this fall in Japan. This series has not yet been licensed for US release and the first season is available on fansubs.

Licensing News - announced this past weekend was the Gonzo series Speed Grapher picked up by Funimation. Also, reports say that ADV Films has now bowed out of the license for Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, due to the TV promotional backing that the series would've needed in the US.
AIR - Character profile for Misuzu Kamio has been added.

AIR the Movie - I just found this last night. Animate tv is doing a web stream of the first 30 minutes of the AIR movie. This will be available until June 15. You will need Windows Media Player to watch this:
Official R2 DVD release is set for 8/5/05. Enjoy the movie!

New Licensing announcement - just announced yesterday at A-Kon, Funimation has licensed the recent Gonzo series Basilisk for US release. I will update the site site again if any additional announcements are made today.

I recently got an issue of G's Magazine that features the AIR TV series with episode coverage and a nice poster/pic of Misuzu Kamio. I've scanned it for you guys. This would definitely make a nice wallpaper with some Photoshop work.

Welcome to the Kanon / AIR webpage. This is my third site for the AquaStar Anime/Manga sites based on different anime series. Thanks to everyone in advance who volunteered to contribute their info on the series to this site. I hope you guys will get a lot out of this page as with the Love Hina/Negima and Sister Princess pages.
