Akiko Minase is Nayuki's mother and also Yuuichi's aunt. She's very kind and a hard worker and also has a cool temper even when the others in the house make loud noises that disturb her sleep. She took Makoto into the house despite being a stranger and gives her shelter and food.

Akiko is definitely a perfect definition of a mother. She's strong and was able to continue working and raising her only daughter Nayuki alone after her husband left her and Nayuki. She balanced time between work and making sure Nayuki grows up with all the feelings she would have grown up with from two parents. She is wise and never become angry with Makoto for all the noises she made. Even suffering from a near-fatal accident, she made a miraculous recovery and still offered Nayuki a good advice on how to deal with her feelings to Yuuichi. She also has this special "jam" that she makes, though we're not quite sure what is in it.
