I am gone

I dwindle to nothing for you and sit,

quiet as a shadow under the porchlight

Snapshots and laughter.

This place, once so familiar,

Now a book in my hands and a world I can no longer enter.

The smile in your eyes.

Saved for someone else.

There is always hope in a story that goes on

but my pages lie torn and forgotten on the ground

If there is beauty to be found in this prose

It remains to be written.

Complacency weathers the fairest of words

Even ink lines fade with time

Our voices echo in the chamber of memory

A whispering chorus of promises made

That plead quietly for rememberance

I am here

I am here

I am gone...

But never gone for good.

While life flows between the paper and my fingertips.

For us I shall write no oblivion

I am here.
