The Dancer

Lying on my back I see you,
Transfixed with awe I stare,
The music pulses you start your act,
With graceful movements fair.

Like a falling leaf in autumn,
Gliding, twirling, descending you sway,
Through gracious motions your smile shines,
Mere memories of yesterday.

Closing my eyes I watch you whirling,
A swirling snowflake on a winterswept hill,
Sparkling sapphires join the chorale,
On a magical plane, enchanted...still.

Oh I long to join you, sweet dancer,
To be as a snowflake, the shimmering sea,
Your gentle touch like that of no other,
A fervent reminder of how it could be.
