If you've already taken a look at the Soundriven Audio Post page, you pretty much know what we do. If you haven't, take a minute and press the Audio Post button at the top of this page and have a look at our cool little studio. Well, most of what's in that studio is portable -- just about everything but the black leather couches and the bar -- and we can just as easilly set it all up and use it at YOUR cool little studio...as we can at ours (minus the couches and the bar, of course!) Pro Tools To Go.
We're providing Pro Tools To Go pretty regularly now for a growing number of area production houses -- some that don't have their own audio post capability, and some that do but just like to use us sometimes too (either because they get too busy in their main audio suite and need to throw us their overflow -- or because their clients asks for us) -- places like Renegade Productions, Bonnemaison Productions, Brennan Response, Stonebridge Communications and Atlantic Video.
It's seldom exactly the same for any two of our clients, but it generally works something like this: we arrive at a client's site with all of our Pro Tools gear tucked nicely into a pair of unassuming looking laptop computer bags. Setup of our gear takes maybe 10 minutes, with another 10 minutes to interface with any video decks, VO booths, data networks, etc. -- call it a leisurely half-hour at some sites. We try to make use of any good, existing video and audio monitoring at the site if they are available. If not, we have a set of the same Mackie HR 824's we use in our own studio that we can carry in from the car and set up, as well as a little LCD video display -- or in a pinch, there's always headphones. Being location sound guys too, we're very accustomed to monitoring and mixing on headphones.
So once it's all set up and running, the client then has a fully functioning, fully capable Digital Audio Post suite online, complete with music & EFX libraries and an experienced operator who not only knows all of the ins and outs of the craft, but who can work with the client's editors or engineers to make sure the entire workflow in and out of the edit suite runs smoothly and unobtrusively -- and economically. The client then has all of that capability for as long or as not-so-long as he or she needs -- a morning, an afternoon...a day, a week. The only things we ask are a 2-hour minimum (on short sessions we sort of "eat" that leisurely half-hour of setup) and travel expenses if the session is outside the general Balto/DC area.
So that's Pro Tools To Go. Interesting? It's a smart way to expand your facility at minimal expense -- when you need to, and only when you need to. Give us a call if any of this sounds like something you might want to try. It seems to be working great for everyone involved.
Pro Tools To Go RATE:
$150/hr with a 2-hour minimum (plus travel expenses outside the Balto/DC area).
