The Rocky Mountain Retreat is now sixteen years old, and based at Snow Mountain Ranch, YMCA of the Rockies. We stay in a large cabins, with flush toilets, running water, and real beds. Attendance ranges from about 35 to about 60. This year, please note, that if we have more than 40 women, folks who register late will have to stay in nearby lodge rooms. The age of attendees ranges from about 18 to about 80. Typically about 1/3 of the women there have attended every year, another 1/3 have attended most of the time, and another third will be new or newish. We try to be very friendly, and usually we succeed. As far as religious affiliation, we run the gamut from women who are very active in the LDS church, to women who no longer attend church.
More specific details about the 2009 will be posted here, as they evolve. Plan to arrive on Friday night by 6 PM if possible. Dinner on Friday is a pot luck dinner, followed by mixer activities, and possibly one session with our speaker. On Saturday morning we'll have breakfast followed by a session with the speaker, followed by lunch, then free time in the afternoon. Many of us go to the hot springs on Saturday afternoon. Saturday night is dinner, usually from a local catering service, followed by one more group session, and some kind of activity, like a movie or craft. Both nights are usually capped off by late night/early morning conversations. On Sunday morning, there is breakfast, then a Quaker Meeting to end the retreat. All the meetings include amazing group singing.
In the past, we have made classic Relief Society glass grapes, and, another year, tampon angels. We’ve watched Trapped by the Mormons, and New York Doll. Past speakers have included Claudia Bushman, Barbara B. Smith, Chieko Okazaki, Aileen Clyde, Linda Hofmann Kimball, Elouise Bell, Dorothy Solomon Allred, Marjorie Condor, Cherry Silver, Peggy Fletcher Stack, Robert Kirby (the first man ever allowed), Emily Watts, Kathy Stokes, Margaret Young, and Fred and Marilyn Matis.

This year we have reserved only one cabin, which is large enough for forty women. If you register after the cabin is full, you'll have to stay in a nearby lodge room. We just can't take the chance, in this economy, that we might not be able to pay for the other cabin. So register soon!
