Below are listed some of my daily staple software tools for working with Sanskrit texts and images on Mac OS X.

Grep: Some advice on using Grep.

TeX: TeXShop and XeTeX.

Text editors: BBEdit (v8.7.2, still my favourite text editor for OS X). Choosing a decent text editor is important, since it is the tool most commonly used for textual work. BBEdit makes using Perl and Grep easy. Both of these features are things I very commonly use to search and transform individual Sanskrit etexts and whole directories of etexts.

Outliners: Notebook and OmniOutliner.

Images/diagrams: OmniGraffle.

Bibliography: Sente.

Keyboard layout: EasyUnicode, made available by Toshiya Unebe.

Word processor: Nisus. Hardly ever bother with Word Processors anymore.
