Welcome to the
The
Gypsy Rollers Puppet Theatre
have continued to perform live at festivals and events
around the country. Five years running at the East Coast
Blues and Roots Festival presenting our "Story
of the Blues", really brought music to
the forefront of our shows.
For
us, music is the main focus, with our songs
emphasising the stories we are telling through the plays
we are writing. We write plays about all sorts of issues,
such as environment, conflict etc, or plays telling
a history or a fictional story, or even a fractured
fairy tale : )
All
our plays have original music, songs, comedy, satire
and truth. And in some of our shows "Music,
Marionettes and Mayhem", with clowning, audience
involvement and vaudeville style variety.
Over
the years more characters have come to life
and added to the troop of marionette actors who reside
in their trunk just waiting to be released to a festival
near you! There's RON in all his oldtimer
Aussie glory, and BERYL, forever in
her housecoat, ready for anything... their son, international
rock icon, BRIAN DAMAGE, fresh from
his latest world tour.
There's
ABDUL the AMAZING, New Delhi's answer
to Bob Dylan, and TZIGANE, environmental
activist from Transylvania. SAM SLITHER and
SUSHI ALIBALIBAD have been sailing
the seven seas since time immemorial, eco pirates with
guts and determination and a reel and a jig to go with
it all. www.WoodWitchWillow can mix
a brew, tell your fortune and turn you into a cane toad
if you don't behave yourself... heeheehee ...
VIZ
the WIZ appears from nowhere, anywhere, anytime...
GIRRAWEEN, from the high granite country:
she loves to tell a story, sing a song or two and introduce
her friends, such as JOJO; all the
way from Jamaica REGGAE MAN, he loves
this country; and MR. PONCINELLO, born
in 16th century Italy, rabble rousing maniac, put on
this Earth to STIR!!!!
Dr
LEROY BOOTLEG, mad scientist comin' to your
town... often followed by Howlin' Blind Pegleg
Willie Jackson!!! And good old D'ARCY
MaGEE, born on the creek flat back in the early
days, he and his swag travel the dusty roads collecting
and telling tall tales and true. He has friends, both
human and animal... BLACK COCKY, POSSUM, PLATYPUS...
they're all there, ready to entertain YOU!!
