Let the blog begin...


Marion and I just returned from our 3-day visit to DC for an orientation for Fulbright scholars heading to North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Several Fulbright alumni emphasized the importance of keeping a journal. So I just downloaded this nifty blogging software and thought I would get things started.

Technical difficulties


Some of you who might have tried accessing the Zavelogue in the last few days may have gotten error messages. The dial-up connection here is driving me crazy, and there's no hope of getting broadband, I just learned. I may just accumulate a bunch of posts, and then go once a week to the local Internet cafe and post them from there.

Zavelogue reaches midlife crisis


Don't worry, you're in the right place. Things might look a little different, but it's all cosmetic. I decided to shake things up a bit, so some colors in the Zavelogue have changed, and there's a new "Zavelogue Overview" in the right-hand column so first-time visitors to the site have a sense of what the blog is about. The categories are all the same, and navigating through the Zavelogue is the same as always.

More technical difficulties


I was notified on April 3 that the Zavelogue was not functioning properly. It should be working fine now. The story of what went wrong and why it took a week to fix which is the subject of this entry.

The Zavelogue's final entry


It's been more than a month since my last entry. Although we've been busy, the real excuse for failing to bring the Zavelogue to the type of dignified closing that I think it deserves has to do with all of the very mixed emotions I have been having.
